I woke in a void. Nothing around me except shadowed images frozen in place. I swallowed and it felt like broken glass was embedded in my throat.
There was Professor Daniels, grim determination on his face. And Megan with the Kraken's claws ripped down her body and I could see it was using the bond between us to complete the conjuring I'd tried to do with Jasper to bring over the sprite.
The Kraken was going to burst through her body. I stifled a scream, backing away from her.
To my right and left, everyone was frozen in place. Like this was a nightmare painted with swirling dark colors. No one moved except me.
I spun in a circle, trying to figure out where I was, and how to get back.
"Kill them all," my dark magic throbbed at the back of my skull.
It was louder here. More powerful.
