Once they faced the tunnel fork the explorers decided to split equally. Teresa and Marcelo took the tunnel that opened to the left and Emil and Amalric the remaining one. They agreed to return in no more than one hour, and facing the possibility of finding new branches, they agreed to follow always the tunnel opening to the left, so that they would always know how to get back.
