Saving Eric

2183 Words
Bianca's POV I look at myself in a mirror and cannot believe it is the same person from a few hours ago. Melissa White looks much better than Bianca Henderson. I am glad I stayed in shape while I was in jail. The business suit I'm wearing looks fantastic on me. For the last few hours, they have drilled my new past into my head. I do not think I will be able to slip up again. I have to stop thinking of myself as Bianca Henderson and start thinking of myself as Melissa White. I cannot stop thinking about my little boy, but I know I must put it out of my mind for now. I wonder what his name is. I always wanted to call him Eric—enough of that. I have to get ready because I am going out with Malone tonight. We are going to meet a client at his house. Earlier, Malone came in and asked me for one of my hair. I know better than to ask questions and give him my hair. I know by now it does not help to ask him anything because every question I ask, they don't answer. "Are you ready to go? We have to take a maternity test for the client. This is going to be a big test for you. Tonight we are going to the house of Ethan Maverick. Although he does not allow anybody to come to his house because of the little boy, he will allow us to come as he is in a hurry for the results." Malone says, and I look surprised. I wonder if I will see my little boy and if I will be able to keep my hands off him. "I will act cool and calm. I promise I will not kill him." I say, although I do not know if I can keep that promise. "You're not going to ask what maternity test? Maverick thinks that you are dead. He wants to make sure that it is the mother of his son that is dead. He must remember that he has adopted your boy. He is also planning on burying you and taking his son to your funeral." Malone says. I know he calls him Maverick's son because he wants me to understand that I cannot touch my child. "I will try my best not to do anything that will upset you. I can also not promise that I can be very friendly with Maverick. You know what his family did to me. You know he took away my son. He did not even want me to touch my son for one moment. Do not worry. I am not Bianca Henderson anymore. I do not have a son. I know you are doing this to test me. I can play the role of Melissa White. No, I am Melissa White. I know he is looking after a little boy and will not allow anything to happen to him. I know my boy is safe with Ethan Maverick. He is much safer with him than he will be with me. May I ask you one question? What is Bianca's son's name?" I ask. "I guess you will find out sooner or later. His name is Eric. He heard you calling him Eric when you asked if you could hold him. He called your son Eric. He knew it was one of your wishes. But Bianca is dead. Melissa is alive. It will be best if you remember that. I know it will be hard on you, but I want you to keep your emotions intact." Malone says. "I can do that. I've learned how to do that in prison." I say. I wonder when Viper will return to the dark net. I guess only time will tell. "I know this seems harsh, but you will have to face your past at one time or another. You have changed a lot, and the Maverick family will not recognize you. Besides, they think that you are dead. I will ensure an autopsy report is sent to the Maverick family. We will also personally give one to Ethan tonight. Melissa, you have a second chance in life. Use it wisely, and do not mess things up. If you play your cards right tonight. Viper will return, and you will have a future with us. You will have other children. You will have a new life. I know it is hard to believe now, but you will start forgetting about your past some time or another," Malone says. I nod. I can never forget about little Eric, but I will not tell him that. Eric will always be in my heart, but I know he is off-limits. Bianca is dead, and I need to get that in my head. I am Melissa White. I have no right on little Eric. I must forget about him because his future with Ethan Maverick is more secure than I can offer him. Ethan must love him a lot because he does not want anybody close to him. We get into the black SUV and drive to a huge mansion. So this is where my son lives. At least he will have a much better life than I ever had. We get out of the car, and I take the briefcase. Very few people know where Ethan Maverick lives, but I know because I have hacked into his things and have seen where he lives. I can hack into anything, even from an ordinary computer in a prison. I always dreamt about the day I could walk into this house and take my son. Now, I am here but will not take my son, although my heart wants to. I know that he is better of fear than he will be with me. A tall, handsome man opens the door, but I can see that he has no feelings on his face. We didn't even have to knock before he opened the door. "Come in." He says shortly, and I can feel his icy eyes rest on me. For one moment, I thought he was only going to lead Malone to go in and leave me outside. But he stands aside so that we can both enter. He quickly closes the door behind us. "Follow me." He says, and we walk behind him into a study. He looks at me curiously but does not say a word. "This is Melissa White. She is working with me, and you have nothing to fear." Malone says. I do not know if I have to put out my hand to greet or ignore him like it looks like he will ignore me. He nods but does not say anything. Malone hands him the file that I take out of the briefcase. He quickly opens it and looks at it. He looks satisfied. "Thank you. I knew I could count on you," Ethan Maverick says. "About the other case, I'm still working on it. We can talk money after we give you proof." Malone says. I don't know what he's talking about, but I won't ask in front of Ethan Maverick. I can feel Ethan is very hostile towards me as if I am an intruder that does not belong in his house. Keep as quiet as a mouse because I don't want to be why he no longer trusts Malone. The door to the study bursts open, and an older woman comes running in. "Sorry to interrupt you, sir, but there is something wrong with little Eric." She says, looking close to tears. Ethan jumps up and runs straight to the room. I don't even think twice. I follow them immediately. I learned first aid while I was in prison. Malone tries to stop me, but I will not let him. He also runs with us and keeps giving me the evil eye. We come to a baby's room, and I immediately see what is wrong. There's something stuck in the child's throat. I can see that the babysitter and Ethan are panicking as they do not know what to do. Little Eric is turning blue on his face. I push past Ethan and shout for him to call 911. I go and stand behind Eric as I was learned in prison. He is still a tiny toddler. I wrap my arms around Eric's little waist. I make a fist with my hand thumb side in, and I place my fist just below the chest and slightly above the navel. I grab my fist with the other hand and press into his abdomen with a quick upward push. "What the hell are you doing? You are going to hurt him! Let go of my son!" Ethan shouts, but I do it again, and a little ball comes flying out of his mouth after a while. Eric starts crying, and I am relieved as I see the color returns to his face. Everyone is quiet. "How can he let a baby play with small rubber balls like that? What kind of parent are you?" I ask, angry. "I don't know where he got it from. We don't let him play with things like that, miss. Thank you for saving his life." The older woman says. "Dadda!" Eric cries and runs to Ethan, who picks him up immediately. "Never touch my child again." He says, but I can see that he's still in shock, so I don't take it to mind. "Sir, she saved little Eric's life." The older woman says. "I'm sorry. I'm just very protective over him. Thank you for saving his life." Ethan says. He calls his servants and tells them to look for anything small enough that Eric can swallow. It must be immediately removed from the house. The paramedics arrive, and a doctor as well. We leave so the doctor can ensure that little Eric is fine. I am almost in tears, but I have to swallow it back. I helped my son for the first time. I saved his life. Most of all, I held him in my arms for the first time. We are about to leave when Ethan comes out of the room. "Thank you. My son will be fine. You can leave now, and I will appreciate it if you never come here again." Ethan says, a little hostile. The doctor is leaving, and little Eric comes running out of the room straight to me. He is holding out his little arms as if to jump into my arms. I don't know what to do because I know I will betray myself if I touch him again. "Mama!" Eric says. I am swallowing my tears back and trying to keep my face blank. "Eric, come to Daddy! She is not your Mama." Ethan says as he grabs the little boy away. "I was just at the right time at the right place. I am glad I could help, sir. We will be leaving now." I say, and my heart is bleeding because I cannot hold my son. I can also not betray myself because if Ethan Maverick knows that Bianca is still alive inside me somewhere, he will never trust the organization again. I follow Malone, and we walk out of the house. I can still feel the hostile eyes of Maverick on my back. I glance back and see that Ethan has handed little Eric to the older woman. He follows us to the front door. "Listen, I am very grateful to you for saving my son's life. But I do not want to see you near him ever again. Do we understand each other, Miss White? You are not his mother. You will never be his mother. I know he called you Mama but forget about it. Malone, I do not want this woman near my house or my son in the future." Ethan says as he slams the door behind us. Malone looks at me and smiles. "Maverick does not want to say that, but he is very grateful to him. However, we will have to be careful. You cannot come in here, Eric, again. I think he has that little instinct that knows you are his mother. You have made a lasting impression on Maverick, though. I could see the way he was looking at you. I'm glad that happened." Malone says. I shake my head and walk to the car. I get in and slam the door shut. How can Malone think that that arrogant asshole was impressed by me? I saved his son's life, and he practically told me never to come near him and his son again. I smile because I have finally held my son in my arms, even if only for a few seconds. I know it was only an accident and that Maverick will ensure that nothing like this happens again. I know my son is safe. That is all that counts, although my heart is breaking because I have to leave him behind.
