Chapter Eighteen

545 Words
“Honey, before your accident, we were talking about taking a vacation to Hawaii. You had won it for your job performance. We hadn’t planned anything yet, but as soon as you are stronger and your therapist feels you are ready, could we start planning that? It’s been so long since we’ve had a family vacation. You were always too busy to take time off,” Penny said. “Yes, Sweetheart, I think that’s a wonderful idea. When my strength comes back and hopefully my memory and you can get off work, I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Maybe spring break?” Chris suggested. “That’s what we were shooting towards. That gives us a month to work towards that goal,” Penny told him. Chris stretched his arms out, grabbing Penny by the waist and pulling her close. She bent down and kissed his lips. She kept her hands on his shoulders, staring into his blue eyes, admiring her handsome husband, smiling at him. “What? What makes you look at me like that?” Chris asked, holding onto Penny’s hips. “I just think you’re so handsome and I love you so very much. It’s so good to have you home,” Penny admitted. April smiled at the two as she cleaned up the breakfast dishes. “Without even remembering the love they shared; it was strong enough to stay in his heart for the woman he loves,” April said to herself, hoping she and Jordan one day could have a love like that. Christopher worked hard in therapy. His legs were coming back, but had a long way to go. They shook violently when he tried to move them. They went into another spasm like the one Penny had witnessed this morning. The therapist showed her how to systematically massage them until the spasm releases. Chris thanked her for helping him get through the painful ordeal. Later that evening, Chris fulfilled all his promises to his children. He tossed a foam football outside with the boys, then after dinner he watched Frozen with his sweet little girl. The children were so happy having their daddy home with them. They were totally unaware of his memory loss, because he was the same attentive father to them even without his memory. Penny was happy snuggling up to her husband after everyone went to bed that night. Chris smiled with contentment, holding her tightly in his embrace as they fell asleep. Jordan video chatted with April before she fell asleep. He told her how cute she was in her pajamas and made her giggle. It was becoming less difficult to talk to him, April noticed. She stared at his brown eyes, thinking how handsome he was as he told her about his flights. “I can’t wait to see you this weekend, my Angel,” Jordan told April as he admired her natural beauty without makeup. “We can go out to the movies if you want to. Penny will be off this weekend,” April assured him. “Okay sweetheart, you can pick out one you want to see and decide where you want to eat, and I’ll be there to pick you up around six on Saturday,” Jordan confided.
