Chris woke up with Josie asleep against him. He jumped up out of bed, suddenly realizing he had a hangover. Holding his head with one hand, he grabbed his pants with the other, pulling them on as Josie began to stir.
She was naked in his bed, wrapped in a sheet. “Josie! What the heck is going on? What are you doing in my bed, naked, and why do I feel like I have a hangover when all I had was a diet soda? Did you drug me?” Chris asked angrily.
“Chris! I did no such thing! You started out with diet soda, but you drank vodka and coke later on. We danced, and then…you brought me here and made love to me. It was wonderful. You mean you don’t remember?” Josie asked, pretending to be hurt.
“Oh my God, Josie…are you kidding me? Did we seriously have s*x? I don’t remember anything,” Chris said, sitting down and holding his head.
“Josie, listen…I’m sorry, but I love my family. I love my wife. I never meant for this to happen. This cant ever happen again, and my wife can never find out about this,” Christopher told her.
Josie pretended to be devastated, bringing on crocodile tears. “But Chris, don’t you know that I love you? I always have. Last night was so special. It was a dream come true for me. You can’t just pretend it never happened. Besides…I accidentally answered your phone, and Penny saw you in bed with me. She knows, Chris. You may as well tell her about us,” Josie said, carrying on her deception.
“What? No! Josie! How could you? My marriage is ruined. Oh God! I’ve got to call her. Get dressed and go downstairs, Josie. I’ve got to try and save my marriage,” he told her.
Josie angrily jumped out of bed, completely naked and stormed off to the bathroom.
Chris sat bent over holding his head, trying to think what he should say to Penny. How would she ever believe that he did not remember what happened. He still felt that Josie had spiked his drink. His heart was racing thinking about Penny leaving him with the kids.
As soon as Josie left the room, he dialed home. Penny did not answer. He left a message pleading with her to call him.
“Honey, please, it was an accident. Please, I love you. I never meant for this to happen. Someone spiked my drink. I don’t remember anything about last night. I’m not having an affair, I promise,” he pleaded tearfully as he left a third message on her phone.
That morning, Chris called his manager and told him that he had a family emergency, and he needed to go home immediately. He lied and said that his wife was very sick, and he needed to go to the hospital with her. Next, he called Jordan to find out what happened last night.
Jordan told him that Josie was all over him, so she could have spiked or drugged his drink. He explained that he was drunk and couldn’t stand up, so he and Josie took him to the hotel and got him in bed. He said Josie acted like she was leaving right after him, so he went on to his room.
After Chris checked out of the room, he went downstairs and told Jordan that he was going home to try and save his marriage.
“Penny won’t answer my calls or texts. I can’t let this destroy seven years of a great marriage. I can’t lose my kids, Jordan. I can’t lose my wife,” Chris told him, brokenhearted.
Josie listened from her hiding place around a post near them. She had to stop him from going home. If he went home to Penny, maybe they would make up and she would be out of the picture, she thought to herself. She thought up a plan to keep him there and leave Penny thinking their love was over.
