Chapter Twenty

701 Words
Saturday had come and the family was all excited for their big cookout. Penny had invited their whole extended family and explained Chris’s memory and mobility issues. All of them had been praying for God to completely heal him and for this reunion to spark his recovery. April had video chatted with Jordan and explained their plans. He too was excited about this reunion and was hopeful for his quick recovery. “I’m going to take him to the airport on Sunday and take him into the cockpit and around some of our colleagues if he doesn’t regain his memory on Saturday,” Jordan told her. “I’m really looking forward to seeing my pretty girlfriend. Are you gonna wear that strawberry lip gloss again for me?” Jordan asked, making April blush. He loved watching her cheeks blush and how nervously shy she reacted to his suggestive words. “Well? You will let me lick the gloss off your sweet lips, won’t you, Pretty Girl?” He teased. “I want to taste those soft lips, my Angel. I’ve thought about it all week,” Jordan admitted honestly. Jordan’s wife was young and innocent when they met as well as April. He felt perhaps it was April’s innocence and shyness that attracted him to her. Now he knew why he never felt a connection to any of the women he had gone out with before. He craved that sweet shyness like his wife Danielle. April was different but had that same sweet quality and was a woman of faith like Danielle. “I’m looking forward to seeing you as well,” April told him, unable to stop smiling. She had enjoyed their conversations every evening by video chat and his sweet texts throughout the days. April waited anxiously for Jordan to arrive. She had pulled her long blonde hair into an updo with romantic tendrils around her face. She smiled at herself in the mirror as she applied the strawberry gloss over her bold pink lips. She wore an off the shoulders flowered dress with pink earrings and matching necklace. Happy with her appearance, she slipped on soft pink strappy heels, showing her freshly painted toenails. “You look gorgeous, Cousin,” Chris told April as she joined them in the kitchen. April smiled and thanked him, and Penny agreed, admiring her look. “Jordan is going to be knocked off his feet when he sees you,” Penny told her, carefully hugging April. “I hope he likes what he sees,” April said, peering outside to see if he had arrived. Just then, Jordan pulled up in his green Ferrari. He got out, looking daringly handsome in a navy-blue suit. He looked around and started smiling appreciatively when he saw April. Reaching into the car, Jordan picked up a dozen red roses, a box of candy, and a small gift box. He walked over to April and complimented her appearance, handing the candy and flowers to her. “Who is the gift box for?” April asked, pressing him hopefully for an answer. “For My Angel, of course,” Jordan answered, opening the box for her. April looked to see a gold bracelet with little hearts all the way around. “Oh Jordan! It’s so beautiful!” She exclaimed. Jordan gently placed the chain on her wrist. The little cuts in each heart picked up the light of the sun and shone like diamonds. “I’m glad you like it, My Angel. I wanted you to have something pretty to adorn your beautiful arm,” he told her, leaning closer. “Do I get a thank you kiss for it?” He whispered. April smiled and kissed his cheek lovingly. “People are watching us,” she whispered back. “Okay, Sweetheart. But I can’t wait to get you alone and taste those sweet lips. Don’t make me wait too long, okay?” Jordan said with a wink and a grin. “I’ve got to go help with the food. Go visit Chris while I get things ready, okay?” April suggested. Jordan told her that he would do that, but to yell if she needed help.
