The second seawater rushed into Kirsten's ears, her world turned into a broken mirror. She held her breath instinctively, but darkness closed in fast with its salty taste, filling her nose, mouth, and every part of her. She felt heavy pressure crushing her lungs. She could barely breathe, and her chest burned unbearably. Through the ringing in her ears, another splash came near. A tall figure cut through the dark water and swam straight to her. Strong hands held the back of her neck. Without hesitation, the man lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers, slowly breathing air into her lungs.
