**Aria’s POV**
The clash of steel against steel echoes off the high stone walls of the Citadel’s courtyard.
Six months have passed since the night Damon Sterling rejected me. Six months of bleeding, sweating, and rebuilding every fraction of my soul under the freezing sky of the Shadow-Blood Realm.
I duck beneath a heavy iron broadsword, my boots sliding smoothly over the frost-covered stone. Before my opponent can reset his stance, I pivot, sweeping my leg out to catch him behind the knee. As he stumbles, I press the blunt edge of my silver daggers directly against his throat.
Commander Brutus, a towering warrior built like a mountain, chuckles and drops his sword into the snow.
"Yield, Your Highness," Brutus grunts, wiping sweat from his scarred forehead. "You're getting faster. Six months ago, you could barely hold a parry."
"Six months ago, I was holding back," I say, panting as I sheath my daggers back into my leather harness.
My body has transformed. The frail, starved Omega who scrubbed pot grease in the Silver Moon kitchens is gone. My muscles are lean and honed, my skin flushed with health, and the ancient Lycan blood inside me flows like liquid fire, making my senses ten times sharper than any standard wolf's.
"She’s right, Brutus. She would have taken your head if those blades were live."
I turn to see Kaelen walking out onto the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
He wears dark leather armor, his long obsidian cloak snapping softly in the cold breeze. Every time I look at him, my pulse does something chaotic and dangerous. Over the last half-year, Kaelen hasn't just been a King to me; he has been my mentor, my anchor, and the only person who treated my power as a blessing rather than a threat.
He leaps over the balcony railing, dropping twenty feet down to the stone courtyard with effortless, predatory grace.
"Take a break, Brutus," Kaelen commands softly.
Brutus bows respectfully and leaves us alone in the snow-dusted yard.
Kaelen walks over to me, reaching out to draw a long wooden practice sword from a nearby rack. His gold-flecked black eyes lock onto mine, a playful, dangerous spark burning in their depths. "Show me what you’ve learned about controlling the silver aura, little storm."
I don't waste time talking. I surge forward.
Our weapons collide in a shower of sparks. Kaelen parries my attack effortlessly, but I don't pull back. I tap into the silver pulse at the core of my chest. Magic flares down my arms, coating my wooden sword in a shimmering, electric silver light.
With a fierce cry, I strike. The silver energy detonates on contact, shattering Kaelen’s wooden sword into splinters and pushing him back two full steps.
Kaelen stops. He looks at the broken hilt in his hand, then looks up at me. A low, dark rumble of satisfaction rolls from his chest.
"Magnificent," he murmurs, dropping the broken wood and closing the distance between us before I can react.
He catches my wrist, pulling me gently against his chest. His breath is warm against my cold cheek, smelling of white cedar and amber. For a heart-stopping second, the world disappears, reduced entirely to the heat of his body and the intense, electric pull snapping between us.
"You are ready, Aria," Kaelen whispers, his fingers lingering on my cheek, brushing away a loose strand of hair. "The Silver-Blood magic is entirely yours now."
My heart hammers against my ribs, but for the first time in my life, it isn't out of fear. It's out of a raw, dizzying desire that makes my wolf, Nyx, purr with absolute contentment.
**Damon’s POV**
The Alpha office in the Silver Moon Packhouse smells of stale wine, burnt parchment, and ash.
I sit behind my heavy oak desk, staring down at the map of the Northern Territories, but I haven't read a single line in hours. My head hurts—a dull, thumping agony that hasn't left me for six straight months.
Ever since the night I rejected Aria.
A knock on the door shatters the silence. Chloe walks in without waiting for an answer, her bright pink silk dress trailing along the rug. She holds a tray with tea, but her beautiful face is twisted into a familiar frown.
"Damon, you missed the strategy council with my father again," Chloe whines, stepping toward the desk. "He is furious. The Crimson Fang warriors are getting restless at the border, and you haven't even set a date for our wedding!"
"Leave me, Chloe," I say, my voice flat and lifeless.
"What is wrong with you?!" she snaps, slamming her hands onto the desk. "Ever since that pathetic Omega ran away, you've been acting like a ghost! You barely eat, you refuse to touch me, and your wolf won't even respond to your commands!"
*She is right,* Fenrir sneers in the back of my mind. He hasn't spoken to me in months, remaining locked in dark silence, but now his voice is laced with pure venom. *You traded our soul for a political puppet. Look at what you bought, Alpha. Look at your prize.*
"I said *get out*," I growl, releasing a wave of oppressive Alpha aura that makes Chloe gasp and take a sharp step back.
Her golden eyes flash with fear, and without another word, she turns and bolts out of the office, slamming the door behind her.
I bury my face in my hands, letting out a ragged breath. The void inside my chest bleeds continuously. Every time I close my eyes, I see Aria standing in the Great Hall, blood on her lip, looking at me with those blazing violet eyes as she ripped her pack allegiance away.
*I made a mistake,* the thought consumes me day and night. *A catastrophic, unforgivable mistake.*
The door swings open again. This time it is my Beta, Jackson, his face pale and covered in cold sweat.
"Alpha!" Jackson gasps, out of breath. "Scouts just came back from the Neutral Pass. The Rogue Syndicate has broken through the outer defenses. They've assembled thousands of soldiers."
I stand up, snapping back into commander mode. "Tell Alpha Vance to mobilize his five hundred men. We march to the pass immediately."
"You don't understand, Damon," Jackson stammers, his hands shaking. "The Syndicate isn't marching on us alone. They were forced out of the mountain pass by another army. An army led by the Shadow-Blood Empire."
My blood turns to ice. "The Lycan King is in the Neutral Lands?"
"Yes," Jackson nods fearfully. "And... and the scouts saw who was riding at the King's right hand, bearing the royal crest of the extinct Silver-Blood line."
I grab Jackson by his collar, dragging him forward. "Who?!"
Jackson swallowed hard. "It’s Aria, Damon. The Omega... she isn't an Omega. She’s the High Queen of the Lycans."
