**Aria’s POV**
The scent of crushed white cedar and burning amber is the first thing that greets my senses.
I open my eyes, expecting the freezing darkness of the Neutral Lands or the damp stone walls of the Silver Moon Omega quarters. Instead, I find myself lying on a massive canopy bed draped in heavy velvet sheets, illuminated by the warm, flickering light of a roaring obsidian hearth.
I sit up abruptly, every muscle in my body aching, but the agonizing burn of the broken Mating Bond is gone. In its place is a steady, pulsating warmth hummed deep within my bones.
I look down at my hands. The callouses from scrubbing pots and hauling river stones are smoothed out. Beneath my skin, faint silver veins shimmer with a raw power that feels older than the mountains themselves.
"I wouldn't move too fast, little storm. The blood-awakening taxes even a royal body."
My head snaps toward the corner of the room.
Sitting in a carved high-backed chair near the fireplace is the man from the snowstorm. Kaelen Valerius. Up close, without the howling blizzard blinding my vision, he is staggering. Broad-shouldered, with sharp, sculpted features, dark hair, and gold-flecked black eyes that seem to see straight through my soul. He wears a dark velvet tunic embroidered with silver thread, and his presence radiates an authority so dense it makes Alpha Damon look like a boy playing soldier.
"Where am I?" I demand, pulling the fur blanket higher around my chest. My voice is raspy, but steady.
"The Obsidian Citadel," Kaelen replies, taking a slow sip from a crystal glass filled with dark liquid. "The heart of the Shadow-Blood Realm. You have been unconscious for two days."
*Two days.*
"Why brought me here?" I ask, my eyes narrowing. "In the territory I come from, kings do not carry frozen strangers into their strongholds out of charity."
Kaelen sets his glass down with a quiet click. He stands up, his movements fluid and predatory, and steps toward the bed. I brace myself, waiting for the overwhelming pressure of an Alpha’s command, but it never comes. Instead, he stops three paces away, maintaining a respectful distance.
"You are no stranger, Aria," Kaelen says softly. "You bear the rune of House Frost-Valen on your throat. Twenty years ago, the Rogue Syndicate slaughtered the High Royal Court in a bid to extinguish the Silver-Blood line. Your parents died protecting you, sending you into hiding as an orphan."
He tilts his head, his dark eyes locking onto mine with intense curiosity. "For eighteen years, the world believed the Royal Bloodline was dead. Until two nights ago, when your power detonated across the Neutral Lands."
I touch my collarbone, feeling the subtle raised mark beneath my skin. The memory of my awakening floods back—the flames, the ancient white wolf, the surge of silver magic.
"I was an Omega," I whisper, processing the monumental truth. "I was treated as garbage my entire life."
"They forced a seal on your blood when you were a child to hide your scent from assassins," Kaelen explains, his tone darkening with quiet fury. "A standard wolf pack couldn't see past the magic masking your core. But when your mate bond shattered... the trauma broke the seal."
At the mention of the mate bond, a cold shadow passes over my heart. Damon’s arrogant face, Chloe’s smirking mouth, and the brutal public rejection flash through my mind.
Kaelen notices the flicker of pain in my eyes. "Alpha Damon Sterling of the Silver Moon Pack," he states, his voice dropping an octave. "My scouts report that he rejected you for Alpha Vance’s daughter and an army of five hundred men."
"He made his choice," I say, my voice turning to ice. "He traded a bond for political power."
"Then he is the greatest fool alive," Kaelen growls, a flash of pure gold igniting in his eyes. "He traded a sun for a candle."
**Kaelen’s POV**
Watching her sit up in my bed, pale yet fiercely beautiful, takes every ounce of my legendary self-control.
My wolf, Fenris, is clawing at my chest, demanding that I claim her, protect her, and tear apart anyone who has ever made her bleed. The Silver-Blood Royals and the Shadow-Blood Kings were ancestral allies for centuries. But what I feel for Aria isn't just old political loyalty.
It is the raw, undeniable pull of something far deeper.
"What do you intend to do with me, King Kaelen?" she asks, watching me with those mesmerizing violet eyes. She doesn't cringe. She doesn't cower. Even after everything she has suffered, she stands her ground like the queen she was born to be.
"I intend to offer you a choice, Aria," I reply, walking over to the heavy oak desk near the window and picking up a parchment document bound in leather. "Alpha Damon and the Crimson Fang pack are preparing for war against the Rogue Syndicate. But they don't know that the Syndicate has already built an army four times their size. Silver Moon will fall within months."
I walk back to her, offering her the document.
"You can stay here in safety, hidden from the world. Or, you can train with my elite royal guard. Master the Silver-Blood magic running through your veins, claim your birthright, and take your seat as the sovereign of the Northern Realms."
Aria looks at the parchment, then looks back up at me, her dark brows furrowing. "And what do you want in exchange?"
A slow, dark smile pulls at my lips.
"I want the same thing you want, little storm. Justice. The Rogue Syndicate murdered my older brother five years ago. They murdered your parents twenty years ago. Together, our alliance can wipe them from the face of this continent."
I lean in slightly, lowering my voice so only she can hear the truth.
"And when Alpha Damon Sterling realizes that the Omega he threw away is the High Queen holding the fate of his entire pack in her hands... I want to be standing right beside you when he drops to his knees."
Aria’s breathing hitches. A spark of dangerous, beautiful dark fire ignites in her violet eyes—the true awakening of a queen ready for war.
She reaches out her hand, taking mine in a firm, unwavering grip.
"Deal, King Kaelen," she says, her voice as smooth and lethal as polished steel. "Teach me how to rule."
