Emily's face had turned pale and she trembled with fear. I couldn't bear to watch and quickly greeted her, "Hi, Lily, what brings you here?"
She glanced at Julian again. He didn't yell at her this time but turned to stare at me instead.
Ignoring him, I smiled at her.
Only then did Emily step in on her high heels. She placed the fruit basket she carried onto the cabinet beside her and replied with a smile, "Luke wasn't at ease, so he asked me to check up on you as soon as I started work. Are you feeling better now?"
Before I could respond, the man beside me snatched the conversation with a grumpy tone. "I'm right here. What's there to worry about? Alright, you've seen her, and you've brought the gift. You can head back to work now."
