Chapter 6 Steal My Heart

944 Words
Stella's POV: I began selling houses in Azure Ocean after a week of training. Half a month passed, and I didn't complete a single order. Sheila took time out to teach me how to create a public account, build a client group, post advertisements online, and take the initiative to find potential buyers. Not long after, my efforts paid off. Someone noticed my advertisement on the Internet and contacted me on w******p. It was a newlywed couple, and I received them with genuine enthusiasm. Over the next few days, I accompanied them wholeheartedly on a tour of unfinished and sample houses of all types. However, in the end, they told me that they still thought the houses in the Romantic Spring next door were more affordable. It was developed by Bynes Group. The mere mention of Bynes Group drove me crazy. Anyway, determined to intercept their orders, I offered them a 10% discount on my own and settled the deal that day. My impulsive move was quickly uncovered, and I was summoned to a meeting the next day for a stern reprimand. Mia scolded me for more than an hour in front of all the senior executives. I apologized, "I'm sorry, Ms. Darcy. I..." Unexpectedly, she slapped me so hard that my head turned sharply. It felt like there were millions of flies buzzing in my head. "I can't afford to keep a generous saleswoman like you! Now, pack your things and get out!" Mia roared. Anxious, I pulled her hand to slap me again, saying, "I'm sorry, Ms. Darcy. Don't be angry. I will never act on my own again. Give me another chance. You can hit me as long as your displeasure is vented!" Probably because Mia had never met someone as shameless as I was, I dumbfounded her. More and more people gathered around. In embarrassment, Mia pushed me away violently. "You have another half a month to sell two sets. Otherwise, no one can keep you!" I fled out of the marketing center, finding solace in a small garden on the right side. I hid there like an annoying rat despised by all. My face was burning so hot that I couldn't feel the chill in the air. Suddenly, Sheila came over and stuffed a cup of warm oat milk into my hands. Thankfully, she walked away without asking any further questions, leaving me with enough dignity. When I glanced up, I happened to spot a towering building in the distance with two silver words, "Romantic Spring". The humiliation I experienced moments ago was overwhelmed by hatred, followed by despair and frustration. As powerless as an ant, how could I possibly ruin Leo and Layla? A tall shadow fell on the bench just then. I turned my head and found James standing there. Was he here to laugh at me? Staring at me, he said, "Let me see your face." I looked up in surprise. James snorted coldly, "Do you think you can defeat Bynes Group by selling my house at a low price?" Was he a mind reader? How did he know what I was thinking? James sighed, "Your expression betrays your resentment. How can the staff inside let you out without any concerns?" Abruptly, he seized the half-cup of oat milk from me. After taking a sip from the straw I had used, he said leisurely, "You witnessed it at Revel Club. Layla and I are on good terms. If you were brilliant, you shouldn't have opposed me, let alone slapped me. Instead, you should steal my heart and vex Layla, which will be a step forward in your revenge. Don't you think?" I gazed at him intently with a straight face. Did he become suspicious when I rode in his car last time? "What else do you know?" I took a few steps back, really shocked by him. Why could he see through my thoughts accurately even though I had been so careful not to reveal anything? Was James clairvoyant in some way? He stood, handing back the remaining oat milk into my hand. His distinct features were suddenly magnified before me. With a serious expression, he warned, "Listen carefully. I don't care what your plans are. Behave yourself in my company. If you continue to do stupid things, no one will protect you!" With that said, he pivoted away. I got up and threw the oat milk into the trash can without hesitation. There was a bang. It was so loud that James stopped and looked back. I glared at him provocatively to express my dissatisfaction and annoyance. He lowered his head, then raised it again, and glanced at me. "Don't be so impulsive. Men will take your action as an invitation to kiss you or even..." A meaningful smile appeared on his face. My rage intensified. I strode over and passed by him while sneering, "You're disgusting!" James gripped my wrist tightly. "What are you doing? Release me!" I struggled hard, and my voice rose. James fixed his eyes on me and didn't let go. His gloomy expression frightened me inexplicably. Indeed, he was correct in labeling me as foolish. Despite being fully aware of his aggressive nature, akin to that of a wolf, and knowing my slim chances of prevailing against him, I still chose to confront him directly. After a while, James released me and left. I stared at his back in a daze. Was he here to reprimand me? He wasn't that fierce. Then was he worried about me? It was impossible! My sudden wishful thinking really annoyed me. And for that, I really wanted to slap myself to redirect my mind.
