Chapter 12Arik There was a tension in Blaze’s tone and stance that annoyed Arik to no end. This was supposed to be enjoyable—something cool and new, exciting and adventurous. And that kind of cool didn’t come cheap; not that Arik didn’t have more than his fair share of expendable income. But he hadn’t amassed those funds by throwing them into the wind on a whim. So as much as the thought was, if not outright smug, then at least ignorant, Arik had expected some kind of appreciation. A flicker of interest would have been nice.
