Not from Dorn—from the investigation unit. From Mira, which meant it had been flagged as urgent enough to bypass normal procedure.
Sera read it twice.
One of the Architect-connected cities Damaris had identified — Callenhurst, two hundred miles south — had gone active. Not gradually. Not the slow escalation of the Veyrath model. An event: a coordinated series of attacks on both the local hunter outpost and the local vampire settlement, simultaneous, designed to produce casualties and mutual blame on the same night.
Twelve dead in the hunter outpost. Seven vampire civilians.
The local vampire faction was already blaming hunters. The local hunter unit was already blaming vampires.
