[KAEL — POV] The coordinates put him at a location he'd already surveyed: a former industrial building at the edge of the Veyrath River district, in the ambiguous zone between the Ash Market and the Warden's quarter. It had been converted to something residential, poorly, which meant thin walls and thick shadows. He arrived early, as a matter of habit, and spent twenty minutes with the exterior and then the interior before she arrived, confirming no surveillance, no second party, no arrangement that suggested he was walking into a trap. She arrived with nine minutes to spare, which told him she'd also come early and spent those nine minutes with her own reconnaissance and arrived only when she was satisfied, which confirmed what he'd suspected: she thought in the same vocabulary he did.
