CHAPTER 18: BALL OF FLAMES

1933 Words
A knock was heard from the door, and I had no choice but to let my prey go for now. I gave her one last glance with my poker face, and she avoided my eyes while she stood up and fixed herself. I opened the door just in time for her to disappear to her own room. "Boss, I'm sorry for interrupting you and Miss Knight, but she accidentally dropped her phone near your door. I was going to give it as soon as I could, but the plane started to fly so it took longer." "It's fine Fred, I'll just give her phone to her after she finished setting herself to her room. Tell the others to relax while they can. The flight may be twelve hours, but our trip to Asia would force all of you to be extra careful. Make sure that there will be no slip ups and incidents that could reveal our identities to the public, the investors, or Miss Knight." "I will, boss.  However, Capo Dela Mayor said that we also need to make sure that Miss Knight is assigned two of the women assassins as her secret guards. Capo told every one of us that we should give her space, but not minimal security." "Yes. I told Stephanie that Uriel will have at least two guards with her, and one or two would be in the shadows. I don't want to have a new secretary in my company just because some bastards think they can pull the trigger on her. So, all of you better protect her as you protect me." When I went back to my room, I saw Uriel getting out of her own small room on the side. She already changed her clothes from business, to a bit more casual as per my instructions to her earlier.  She looked straight at me and saw her phone in my hand. I gestured for her to come closer and get her phone. However, for a split second, she looked like she was contemplating whether she would run and grab it, or let turn around and lock herself in her room. However, she took a visibly deep breath and with her chin up, she strutted across the room to get her phone from my hands. I couldn't help the intensity of my gaze while she focused her eyes on her phone.  "I was looking for that, boss. I guess I dropped it when you took me inside abruptly-" Her eyes widened at her own words, and as if on cue, she tripped on her own feet, sbut I caught her. Her phone was still in my right hand, and the phone was now in the middle of her hand and mine. Meanwhile, my left hand came to her hips to support her body. "I-I am so sorry, boss, I mean, I never expected to fall, and I never intended to say you pulled me in your room, but-" I shifted our weight, and I pushed her towards the wall near the door. Her phone was now on the floor, and both my hands were now on the wall. She was pressed between the wall and me, and my arms became makeshift cages that refused to let her escape. "I don't understand you, Miss Uriel Hope Knight. One second, you piss me off with your stubbornness, and a few seconds later, you catch me off guard with your clumsiness. Are you deliberately trying to make me lose my mind over you or what?" I was nose to nose with her, and my piercing dark brown eyes met her hazel brown eyes filled with something other than fear. I saw desire flash on those honey eyes of hers that made my blood boil in both anger and desire. "I don't like your stubbornness, Miss Knight. However, what I don't like is your ability to shift that like into something I don't want to acknowledge." "Boss, I'm sorry if you feel that way towards me, but I am your secretary, and I have a tendency to not be perfect. After all, I am not as submissive as what you want, and as much as I want to be one, I'll always have that urge to be the driver and not just the rider." Uriel's voice was soft and it was nearly a whisper, but I heard it with every bone in my body. The both of us swallowed hard and were breathing deep and shallow breaths, but none of us dared to move. "Boss, I'm sorry but, you told me we should prepare for the meeting so our presentation is the best. I'm not telling you to do anything, but as your secretary, I just wanted to remind you that you have more important things to focus on." "Good that you know how to speak to me properly Miss Knight. However, I don't think you're the one who can determine which one is more important, but I'll let you have your way for now." I released him, and I went straight to the bathroom to change and get a hold of myself. I needed to make sure that I wasn't a ball of flames, or else, I might just melt my beautiful secretary even before we were out of the Italian border. A few hours had passed, and planning the presentation and reviewing everything with Uriel was smooth. When the both of us decided to tune out or own libido, our job was easy. After six hours of reviewing and planning, we decided to relax, and Uriel went and locked herself in her room. I looked straight out the window where you could see the clouds pass by. I decided that sleeping was the best thing to do so Uriel's voice and scent would stop torturing me. A loud bang woke me up a few minutes later, and I rushed towards Uriel's room. It was locked, but after knocking a few times, I decided to break the door, and saw Uriel laying on the floor unconscious. "Hope! What happened? Are you alright? Hey! Speak to me Uriel, come on baby, please wake up." I held her as we sat on the floor, and I tried my best to shake her and lightly slap her cheeks. She had a pulse, which means she was alive, so my nerves calmed down a bit. Her eyes flew open, and I saw that she was drinking one of the vodka in her cabinet that I said she could have after our meeting. "I forgot that I'm someone who isn't great at drinking, but I only took about three small glasses to calm my nerves. The whole world is spinning, and this robe is killing me, boss. It's too hot, and when I tried to take off the robe, I tripped and fell " She was speaking like she was eating her own tongue, and I could barely understand her words. However, I decided to look away while I closed her robe that was slightly opened. "Vodka isn't for someone who is weak when it comes to alcohol, Hope. You should have asked me about them and which one is alright for you before actually trying them. You could have knocked yourself out if you accidentally hit your head." She suddenly sat up on her own, but instead of sitting on the floor, she sat on my bent knee and gave me a hug. The hairs on my body stood on alert as her scent covered me. I suddenly pushed her lightly, and tried my best to help her stand up without speaking to her or looking at her inappropriately. "Wait, boss, what's the matter? A few hours ago, you couldn't stop touching me, now, why don't you want a hug? I'm just going to give you a big hug for not leaving me sleeping on the floor." "Because you're drunk, and I may be a flirt when it comes to your sober self, but I am still your boss, and I respect women more than I let on. Now, I want you to go to bed and sleep until you can speak to me more clearly." I left her room, and went straight to my bed. I couldn't sleep, so I decided to go to the shower and let the cold water clear my head. "Wow, no wonder women kept throwing themselves at you like prostitutes." I nearly had a heart attack when I turned around and saw Uriel attempting to take off her bathrobe. I didn't know what else to do, so I walked towards her and held her hands at her back firmly. She was pressed hard on the wall, and I tried my best to restrain her while her back was turned. "You're making me dizzy, boss. You should learn how to go gently when you handle a drunk woman, you know." "That's enough, Miss Knight. As tempting as you are, I won't let you do something that we would both enjoy now yet regret tomorrow. Get yourself sober and talk to me then." She suddenly pushed herself towards me, and due to my shock at her strength, we both fell backwards. I hit my head on the floor a bit hard, and as I tried to stand up, Uri straddled me, and my entire body stiffened when I realized she only wore a robe. "Wow, boss, looks like you're a big fat liar. A very very big fat liar whose patience is longer than I expected." I closed my eyes as my emotions were all-over the place. My body began to move and I felt like my head was spinning. "Boss, open your eyes." I opened my eyes, and I saw Uriel on the side of my bed shaking me. She had a look of concern on her face as I began to sit up from my position on the bed. Suddenly, Uriel's eyes widened, and she backed away slowly due to shock. I gave a confused and sleepy look, because I felt like I didn't understand where I was at the moment. "I-I- um. I'm s-sorry to d-disturb you, b-boss. I-I mean. I'll just be in my room. Please call me if you need me." I was still looking at her confused when her eyes widened again and she covered her mouth. "I mean, by need, I mean, you c-can call me, but with office needs only. Well n-not only but, well. I mean. I'll just be in my room, boss." Uriel ran to her room, and a few seconds of looking at her closed door made me remember my dream. I looked down and I remembered that I was only wearing boxer shorts and a shirt.  My eyes widened, and I finally understood why she was stuttering so much. I cursed myself and my stupidity, and I went straight to the shower to cool off my awakened blood. "Great. Now my secretary's traumatized." I whispered to myself in an annoying tone as I continued to remember my dream and lost all hope of cooling off. I felt like lava was coursing through my veins. Uriel Hope Knight was a dangerous woman, I shouldn't be distracted by her. I came to Asia to test her and secure my company. This should never happen again.  "Well, it can happen again, but only after everything is settled." I smiled to myself as I washed myself and decided to put the company first, and my secretary last. "This is going to be a very interesting business trip." I whispered to myself.
