“Sir, excuse me for asking, but aren’t we supposed to be going to the airport? This route that the driver is using would lead us near the hillside. Are you sure that your driver knows where the airport is, sir?”
Uriel whispered to me the words, but before I could react, our driver suddenly pressed the car’s horn, and startled the both of us. I suppressed a laugh to maintain my composure, but the look on Edgardo’s face made it difficult.
“Boss, I’m sorry, but can I have your permission to answer on your behalf? My pride was challenged, and as an honorable Italian man, I want to defend it.”
“Sure, Ed, no problem. Just please make sure that you don’t terrify my new secretary, alright? It’s hard to find quality employees who are promising these days.”
Uriel looked at the both of us back and forth, and as if a light switched on in her head, her eyes widened and she covered her mouth in shock.
“I am so sorry if you heard what I just said! I am so sorry, I hope that you forgive me. I never intended to challenge your pride or to question you, it's just that you've been driving us away from the airport, so I assumed that you got lost or-”
“I have been driving boss Michael and the De Angelo as well as the Dela Mayor for years, and I can assure you, MIss Knight, that I know where the airport is. As for your apologies, you asked for it immediately, so I will accept it. However, I expect you to trust me when it comes to doing my job. Is that alright with you, Miss Knight?”
“Y-y-yes, I-I understand what you’re saying, and thank you so much for forgiving me.”
The both of them shared a warm smile while looking at each other in the car’s mirror. I felt a tingle of jealousy, but I tried to snap out of it, because by age difference, Edwardo could be Uriel’s young uncle. I knew that they would get along in the long run, and that means, so will the other members of the De Angelo Family.
“Hope, let me answer your question to Mr. Ed here. We are going to the airport, however, we are going to use the private airport that I co-own with the Dela Mayor family. It is located at the opposite side of the area, so that if I have important guests or if I just want to have privacy, I can fly without worrying about people.”
"Impressive, I guess that's the perks of being one of the richest bachelors in the entire country and possibly the world." she whispered to herself.
"Well, as one of the richest bachelors in the world, using my money for luxury is one of the best parts about my life. That's why it's easy to mingle with the rich and famous. Especially the women who think my money and status is as impressive as my dominance."
Uriel slapped her forehead and decided to just cover herself with the scarf that she had around her neck. I saw her face redden before covering it, but she was unsuccessful in hiding the redness at the tips of her ear.
"Sir, you know what? I should really stop talking, shouldn't I?"
I laughed out loud at her sudden remark, and I met Ed's eyes that grew wide. I tried to hold myself together when I saw Uriel take off her scarf to look at me while laughing. I realized that she has never heard me laugh out loud before, and I only laughed this loud in front of Ed or my people when I was with Stephanie.
"Sir, this is the first time I saw and heard you laugh. Y-you should do it more often, because it suits you."
Uriel's words were soft, as if she was afraid that I would get mad at her for her comment. She tried to look at her phone when she realized that I stopped laughing and was staring at her face intensely.
"Boss, I think you have a very interesting secretary. Miss Uriel, you are a blessing to Mr. Michael. Only Miss Stephanie could make that man laugh or crack a huge grin."
"Miss Stephanie Dela Mayor? As in the head of the security of the Alpha and Omega group of companies?"
"Steph is a childhood friend of mine, and we have been together since we were both fifteen years old. She took the position of head of security, but she also holds one of the biggest stocks of the company. However, she makes sure that her father is the one doing her job as a stakeholder, while she enjoys protecting the company as the head of security."
"Oh, so that explains why she is always in your office and talking to you in private. I should make a mental note about things like this."
The look on Uriel's face was a mixture of uneasiness and relief. I couldn't understand her expression, but somehow, it makes her look fierce yet adorable.
"Excuse me, boss, but we're here. The two of you can go ahead, and I can handle both your and Miss Knight's luggages. I will not be your designated driver for this trip to Asia, but it will be my brother. He is already waiting for you there at the airport. I hope that you enjoy your business trip, and get back home safely, both of you "
Me and Uriel got out of the car, and I heard a soft gasp from her. I looked at the surroundings, and I even felt good about seeing the nature that surrounded our private airport. The place had multiple varieties of flowers around the building, but when you go inside, the place has the latest technology that is better than the actual airport.
“Hello, Mr. De Angelo, I will be escorting you to your private jet upon request of Capo Dela Mayor. You will no longer be using the regular entrance and exit doors of the private airport for this trip, but you will be using the hidden routes underground. So, Sir and Ma'am, please follow me."
None of us talked as we followed the beautiful flight attendant through the side of the building where the elevator was. The elevator went two floors lower where the private jet was located. We stopped, and as the elevator doors opened, I heard another gasp from Uriel.
"You know, as adorable as you are, Miss Uriel, I believe that if you gasp some more, you would probably faint. the spot. When we enter the jet and you actually faint, make sure you fall right on my open arms so I would look like a gentleman."
Uriel turned red once more, but I saw her lift her chin up, and once again, I saw the fierceness of Miss Knight. She looked as though she owned the place, and I saw her look at me intently when she saw me staring. I knew she was embarrassed because of my joke, but the way she stood her ground made her more attractive to me.
"Mr. De Angleo, I'm sorry to interrupt your thinking, but aren't we in a hurry? Based on the list of schedules that we have, we need to get going now so that we can still review everything on the plane before the actual meeting about two hours after our estimated landing."
When me and Uriel entered the private jet, I knew that she wanted to gasp and show her shock at my lavish way of transportation. However, her eyes showed me that she was determined to stay professional for as long as she could.
Fred and George were at the chairs inside, and the majority of my people were also there. The men outnumbered the women, but the assassins that Steph assigned to me looked like they were too serious about the trip. Thus, it looked like Uriel was too intimidated to approach them.
"Uriel, my jet has a presidential suite, and that suite has a spare room where Steph or someone else can stay. You can use that room and rest before I call you to review the papers and everything."
"But sir, I don't think that it would be fair to your other employees. I should just stay with them, so that I can get to know them."
I saw that the twins and everyone averted their eyes when I approached Uriel. Now, there was only about six inches of gap between my face and hers. I saw her shiver, and it felt like we forgot about where we are.
"Listen here, Miss Knight. I will tell you this again, just in case you suddenly forgot again. I adore your boldness because it's better than the rest, but the best attitude towards me is submissiveness."
I saw her swallow, and the both of us were getting closer, when a voice from the intercom interrupted us. It was from the pilot that was telling us that we were about to begin flying in a few seconds.
I grabbed her right wrist, and I looked at her inside of my room in the presidential sweet. I no longer cared whether the guys saw me pull her. However, the look I saw in her eyes was not fear, but fire. She had a look that told me this trip would either be a mind-blowing one, or something else would blow up inside of me.
