Emily’s pov
High school, the most complicated place I’ve ever found myself in.
There’s the cheerleaders, the nerds, the creeps, the tomboys, the hot boys, the Miss. Popular, alot of them. But is it weird that I just don’t fit in any of those?
Maybe, yeah.
I’m just that girl who goes through so much, but even her mom isn’t allowed to know about it. She’s that girl who is loved by all in the school, and is hated by most of them secretly. Okay now I know where I fit in, the queen bee. No, the tomboy.
I'm nice to everyone, so I can’t be queen bee.
But I’m also sassy when you ask me for it.
And did I tell you I dress like dirt compared to other girls? But despite that, boys still fall for me?
I have this thing, this thing, I thought that I would get used to it but I can’t anymore. I can’t cry, I never cry. But these days, I find myself crying every single night.
Everyone loves Emily’s kindness and hates her dressing and the fact that she’s short tempered. I am not a cheerleader, but I guess being a child of one of the richest men in the country has given me the crown.
They say the people close to you are the ones that are mostly going to hurt you and stab you in the back. That’s something I’ve learnt over the years.
I love my family. I love books and stuff. And at the same time I also love being a b***h and acting like a boy.
Sometimes it’s so annoying when people say: Emily, you’re never going to find a boyfriend if you don’t wear heels. Like the f**k! I’ve been asked out so many times but I never liked any of them. Did I tell you that I am already used to it?
I tore the paper into pieces, and threw it in the bin beside me. “f**k! Why can’t I get this right?” I said as noticed weird stares from other people in the cafeteria.
“Emily, are you okay?” I heard Hope whisper to me. She was sitting beside me so she must have noticed the frustration in my eyes.
“I’m fine, just need to write this essay about me and I can’t just find the words.” I knew that she could hear me, she knows me more than anyone else. She laughed under her breath, devouring her burger.
“Hi guys!” I heard a familiar and perky voice behind me. I turned back to see the person that hugged me from behind.
“Liv! You have to learn to be calm.” I said and rolled my eyes. My dear Liv didn’t look any different. She sat down on the chair in front of me, adjusting clothes. She was in a white skirt, a blue shirt, and heels. Sometimes I wondered how girls wear that.
“Sorry, sorry,” she said and flipped her black hair over her shoulder and stood up again.
“Liv, are you okay?” Hope said when she couldn’t contain the stares from people.
“Never been better!” she said in a high pitched voice and I rolled my eyes.
“Yep, never been crazy why are you so exited?” I said.
Before she could say anything, I heard the bell ring. The cafeteria got rowdy as everyone wanted to make it to their classes early.
………..
“Emily! You’re late!” captain told me as I walked to where others were.
“I had something to do, sir,” I said and stood beside Mike, one of my best friends. He poked me and his eyes spelt disappointmemt, but I couldn’t care less.
“You’re the captain and you came late. Next time you won’t get away with it.” I rolled my eyes at his statement.
For the first time, I could focuse on something else other than my home. I could laugh and play with my friends. We didn’t do much, just a few exercises and a few games too.
Pratice was finnaly over, I was making my way to my locker room when my couch stopped me again. “Wait, before you go.” He said and I took a step backwards.
Everyone was on the field as couch smiled as if he won a million dollars.
“Guys, I want you to meet Sky!” A boy entered the field with his face staring at the phone. He was in a sexy Grey and plain shirt, it didn’t stop me from seeing those biceps of his.
“Sky, sky!” Coach shouted tapping his shoulders. He looked up and stared at us. He looked disturbed and non chalant at the same time.
He had eyes of the ocean, they were light blue and I don’t think no one would want to look away, it was too beautiful. He had a athletic body, he’s now in our team after all. He was quite ligit, he was brown skinned.
“Can we go now?” I said to captain in irritation. I had to go to the library to study before I go home.
“Welcome to the team,” I said to Sky before I left. Even though he ignored and didn’t even take a second to look at me, I didn’t care.
I made my way to my locker room, no one except from me was dared to enter. I was the only girl in the team so I had my private locker room.
I opened the sliding door and took off my clothes as soon as the door got closed. It was always quiet in my locker room, I wondered how it would be if I shared it with others.
It was painted in my favorite color, orange. Yeah it sounds weird. I don’t wear girly clothes because…it’s complicated. It’s not that they aren’t my style, maybe they aren’t. Okay they aren’t. I just prefer wearing my brown shorts and t-shirts.
Before, I wear the clothes because I didn’t feel confident. I wore it for so many reasons, it made me find my style, not the clothes my mom forces me to wear. I love to dress appealingly good, maybe casual clothing, but girly? Hell no!
I couldn’t find my clothes which is usually in the locker room for emergencies. I wrapped my body in a towel, scattering the whole place to look for my clothes.
“Who could that be?” I said in fear as I heard the door open.
And it was opened my the great Sky, awesome!
“p*****t! What the hell are you doing here?” I said as he looked at me from top to bottom. His stare sent tingling sensations to my whole body.
“Sorry! Didn’t know there is a girl in the team,” he said.
“Please can you just go!” I said and tried to close the door.
“Wait! Those marks, are you okay?”
“It’s a birthmark okay? Now go away please!” He finnaly left.
I found my clothes in a pile at a corner of the room, I remembered that I left it there. I checked the time on my phone, it was 5pm already.
Everyone had gone home by this time, and the library would have been locked already. I decided to go home, my mind was filled with worries once again. I knew what to expect when I get to that place worse than hell.
I don’t know why but the way Sky looked at me when he saw me half naked wasn’t like how the other people did. He didn’t smirk, he just blushed for some reason and was embarrassed.
It was already late, I knew that my driver would have left with James. I decided to take a bus but there was no bus in sight.
“What are still doing in school?” Sky said as he stopped his car in front of me. It was a Toyota camry, yes 2021 camry. The car was quite expensive, I wondered who he was. I wondered where he was from when I’ve never heard Simmons before.
“Come on Captain, it’s late and you’re litterely shivering,” he said and gave me that smile of his, showing his perfectly structured teeth. I don’t know why but he made me smile too.
“I didn’t even notice that I was shivering,” he chucked at my statement.
“I’ll call my driver, he will come pick me up. And if he doesn’t answer, my dad’s driver is there.” I took my phone out of my backpack.
I dialed Adam’s number, but it didn’t go through. I tried calling my dad’s driver, even my mom, but no one answered. My mom’s number was busy.
“Why are you still here Sky?” I said when he noticed that he hasn’t gone yet.
“So you even know my name and I don’t know yours,” he said.
“Coach told us remember,” I said and rolled my eyes, still smiling.
“Alright it’s my duty to help a fellow team member, not just a member but my captain. So hop in,” he said. I entered the car before I could process my actions.
Silence, the silence was too awkward for someone like me. I love to know more about people, especially a hot mystery like him.
“So…are you new to Hailey high?” I said.
“It’s…complicated. It’s just a long story never mind. But I guess I’m new.” He faced me, before fixing his eyes back to the road again.
“Hey fun fact, Coach is my dad,” he said.
“What the hell! You don’t look anything like him!” I hallowed.
“Calm down.” He chuckled. “Just kidding, he’s my guardian but I don’t live in this city. My school used to be in Miami,” he said with his eyes fixed on the road.
“You lived alone?” I raised my right eyebrow.
“Yes, is it wrong?”
“No, you’re just really lucky. I have never lived alone, I rarely even go for parties,” I said.
“Maybe one day I’ll take you to one and you would see how amazing they are?” I smiled at his statement.
“Where’s your home?” He asked him.
“Wow thanks for asking before going past my home,” I said sarcastically. “DeLuca mansion.” He had this look on his face.
“DeLuca mansion? You’re a DeLuca?”He looked confused.
“Yes, you don’t know us?”
“No, everyone knows the DeLucas. I have one question though, darl you don’t look Italian.” I looked out the window, but I could feel him staring at me at intervals.
“Who said only Italians have that last name? My dad’s Italian actually. I look nothing like any of my parents,” I said.
“Weird, not even your mom. I’ve seen your mom she’s dirty blonde, you’re freaking blonde!” he chucked.
“And your dad has brown hair, I’ve seen him in some important events.” He continued.
I looked right back in the car, our eyes met, he was staring at me. “Don’t even try to say it, that I’m an imposter.” I could feel the tears brewing as I thought of what could happen if I wasn’t related to the family I’ve loved and still love.
I began to reason it, but I just thought that it happens. But at the same time I wondered why I would be treated in such a bad way by family. I quickly erased that irritating thought off my mind, praying that it never comes across my mind ever again.
“Emily! I’m sorry okay come back to life!” I heard sky’s voice, I totally zoned out.
I heard the car stop, followed by the door opening. I guess Sky’s touch brought be back to reality. I sniffed as I watched him clean the tears off my face, giving me a look I couldn’t seem to resist.
“I guess I brought bad memories,” he said as I thought of how I didn’t notice that I was crying.
“No, the thought of now being related to my family makes me cringe.” He gave me a sorry look as he led me to the entrance of my home.
“Have dinner with us,” I said as I opened the door, only to see a troubled mom.
Molly’s pov
“What is all this?! You can’t just manage something for a week!” I screamed as I walked around the living room, looking for my phone charger.
“Ma’am it’s the delivery man’s fault, not me,” Ruth said in between tears. Maybe I’ve been too hard on her, she has been managing my business for me afterall.
“Look Ruth, I’ll call you back okay? I have to go now.” I said and noticed my sweet daughter standing next to a tall guy at the entrance.
“Emily! I’ve told you to always be early,” I said as I walked up to both of them.
“Mom! Practice took very long.” She whined.
Before I could scold her some more, the driver walked in too.
He looked quite worried, he stared at his feet as he walked up to me.
