The game was fun even though my beloved Steelers unpredictably lost, which spared no amount of amusement from the two hyenas I was with. Eddy bought us snacks to eat during the game, he insisted on it and bough so much food that we weirdly eat most off in between bickering and cheering for opposing teams. After the game we were all pooped out so we drove Eddy to his dorm and said goodbye. he gave us a kiss on the cheek before he got off the car and waved us off.
we conked out when we got home so there was not time to talk about yesterday. "I should be mad" that's the thought that woke me up at five in the morning. I don't understand why my reaction to the infamous dance was that's hot! I have been jealous over Soph before there was that old boyfriend of hers that made a surprise reappearance into her life eight months into us dating. the one thing that asshat did was put his hand around her waist and i nearly ripped it out of its socket, so what the f**k was different with Eddy? At some point during the game Soph was cuddled on his lap and nothing! instead what do i do? i picked up a hot dog and shoved it in my stupid mouth. So here i am at five in the f*****g morning trying to summon up some jealousy with reason, because that's what jealousy is made of, cold hard logic!
In the morning, Maria and Diego, Sophia's parent came by to drop off the kids and sat with us for a while before leaving they were going on a cruise for their thirty-five year wedding anniversary. It was a present we all pitched in for so they could go in style in first class, they were leaving for two weeks. they were lovely people, and sometimes I liked them better then I liked my own family. Mostly because my family had the nasty habit of always trying to pacify and indulge Pavel, and Pavel favorite pastime was making me feel inadequate.
-She's still not answering the phone! I told Sophia redialing our babysitters number again, she was thirty minutes late and we were due to Emily's baby shower anytime now and we were the godparents, it would be terribly gauche to get there late and Zoe was still dodging my calls.
-we need someone in the next twenty minutes or we'll be late, Ella is out of town with her boyfriends. Mateo isn't answering my calls, he's probably buried in a computer somewhere and forgot to charge his phone and Juan went to Lake Erie with his friends which is two hours away. How about your family?
-My parents are still at Igor's place in Cincinnati and Pavel wants us to bring the kids to him!
-he lives thirty minutes away!
-I know, you know how Pavel can be.
-I hope you would all stop excusing Pavel dickishness as him just being difficult! Sophia groaned.
- I'm still trying the Zoe!
- if we didn't both run in the same circle we would have friends to call for help right now! Oh, Brad!
- no, he's at shower him and Ryan bonded at my birthday party two years ago
- darn! that was the one friend you had when i met you!
-should we just take the kids with us? it's a baby shower!
- i don't think so, the shower is at a venue. there will be alcohol and seating is limited.
- okay let's think, there must be someone we know who isn't invited to this shower!
- Back up babysitter!
-we never got around to looking for one not with both our parents eager to babysit!
- Right i forgot about our parents who conveniently decided to ghost us on the weekend we get our first godchildren!
-hummm, you're right they must have planned this, those devils.
-instead of sarcasm lets come up with solutions here, Jen!
-at the shower, okay i have someone but i don't think the'll do it, and even if they do, it might be a bit controversial.
-who?
-keep in mind that we have nanny cams all over the house that we can monitor from our phones.
-okay?
-So i was thinking we call Eddy?
-oh my god Eddy! Why would he be a controversial choice? she asked confused.
-because we've known him for litteraly two days?
-Really? it feels longer.
-it does, shall i call him?
-by all means!
-hello? i said when he answered. hey eddy it's Alex.
-I have caller ID sweetheart, how are you? he said.
- I'm fine, well, we were wondering if you wouldn't mind coming over to babysit the kids for a while. Our babysitter isn't answering her phone and none of our family are available. i was babbling, why the f**k was I babbling? still I continued. I know it's quite the imposition and we've only just met and you probably have better things to do today but...
-Alex!
-yes?
-send me your address and I'll be there in fifteen.
-okay I'll text it to you. we hung up and i quickly shot him a text with our address.
-what was that? Sophia asked waving in my direction when i looked up.
-I don't know, it's news to me too!
-Okay, it was cute! she shrugged. I'll go look for the binder we made for Zoe when we hired her with all the necessary information for the kids. I'll look in the bedroom and you check the study?
-okay.
The binder turned up in the bedroom, I was almost done checking to make sure that all the nanny cams were in working order when our doorbell rang, fifteen minutes on the dot. Sophia got the door while i finished up. the moment he came into view, both my kids unglued themselves from the tv to jump in his arms, he greeted them just as enthusiastically.
-you came to visit? Erik asked
- not exactly, I'll be your babysitter for the evening!
-cool!
-you two have a sit and i'll see your parents about what the rules are. Eddy kissed my cheek when he reached me. where's the kitchen I'm assuming there's a binder?
