FOG OF LOVE

The storm had passed, leaving behind a trail of debris and destruction. Luke opened his bag and brought out a rope from his gears. He rushed towards a tree and tied the rope to it. Afterwards, he tightened the rope around his waist as he go down the ditch.

Luke's heart racing, he whispers to himself "Alex i am coming to get you," carefully making his way down the muddy slope. Alex's eyes locked onto his, a mix of fear and relief.

"I'm here, I've got you," Luke reassured her, his voice calm.

The ditch was narrow, and Alex was pinned beneath a fallen beam. Luke worked quickly, his hands moving with precision as he lifted the beam and pulled her free.

As he helped her climb out, the rain started pouring again, and Luke shielded Alex with his body. They stumbled through the flooded woods, finally reaching a nearby café.

Inside, they collapsed, dripping wet and shivering. Luke wrapped a blanket around Alex's shoulders, his eyes never leaving hers.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft.

Alex nodded, her teeth chattering. "Th-thank you."

Luke makes his way to the waiter, I need hot coffee, please, and a clean towel, Alex was injured towards the left side of her head.

As they sipped hot coffee, Luke stared at Alex as she shivered in the blanket, "You'll be fine he says. "I should have listened to you," Alex replied.

"I was wrong too, I Shouldn't have let you go all by yourself, you are just getting to know this town, I should have been there for you and I wasn't, "I am sorry Alex", Luke holds her hands tight as she begins to sob.

"All I just wanted is to see my mom again, I want to be there for," Alex said.

Luke: "You would see your mom again, I just need you to regain your strength and heal from this accident. I promise you, I will make sure you are reunited with your mom, if that's the last thing I would do, for you Alex I would go a million miles to make you happy. " He moves close to Alex and hugs her. She sobs on his shoulder.

Their conversation flowed effortlessly, and for the second time in weeks, Alex felt seen. Luke's kindness and understanding sparked a connection that went beyond rescue.

As the storm subsided, Luke and Alex had his arm around her shoulders. The town was quiet, except for the sound of rain-soaked pavement and beating hearts.

At the doorstep, Luke hesitated, then leaned in, his lips brushing against Alex's ear. "You're safe now."

Alex's eyes fluttered closed, a sense of calm washing over her. As she looked up, Luke's lips met hers, the world melting away.

The kiss was like the city's rebirth – raw, beautiful, and full of promise.

As they pulled away, Alex smiled, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've been waiting for that."

Luke's eyes crinkled at the corners. "Me too."

The door opens.

Mia stares at Luke and Alex. She feels relief as she hugs Alex

"Ouch," Alex exclaimed, "I am sorry," Mia replied, I thought i would never see you again. it was dead of night, get in, and I prepared hot soup and baked be

Alex and Lukes get into the house and lock the door behind them.

Luke, Alex and Mia are having dinner, Alex looks at Mia, she smiles at her, "What is it?" Mia asked. "Why are you so loving?"I think I got it from my mom," Mia responded.

Luke looks at Mia, he seems to have a rage spurring from within, Alex holds his hands, Mia is scared. "A mother who abandoned her offspring when we needed her most, you are unbelievable." Luke gets up and leaves the hut.

Alex beckons on Luke, but he doesn't listen, Mia begins to sob, Alex holds Mia close "its okay, he will come around."

Rain begins to pour, and Luke runs to the shore. He screams at the sea "You have taken everything from me, you have given me nothing but grief, yes I am your captain but at every chance I get to be happy, you keep on taking, what can I do to have peace, I just want things to go back to normal. I want my dad to be fine, i want my mom back, please just obey me this once, I am tired of carrying the shoulders of the world, please answer me, I am drained".

Thunderstorm, rain keeps pouring heavily. Luke screams at the storm again "bloody answer to me, I am the Captain of the sea, I own the sea, you dont take from your captain" he falls to his feet and lay on the beach as he sobs.

Mia wakes up, the sun blasting through the window, Alex is beside her, she look around the room, Luke is no where to be found, she taps Alex, Alex hesistates immediately as she gets up. "Luke didn't come home" Mia says, "Where do you think he would have gone to" Alex touches her head, seems like a slight headache afterwards she holds Mia's hand, I am sure Luke is fine, he has the strength of a lion and I know he would come home, but let's freshen up and check him at the hospital, he could be there".

Mia and Alex get up.

The door opens.

Alex and Mia look towards the door. Luke stares at both of them, he exhales, and walks towards the shelf where he keeps his gears. He doesn't say a word.

Alex walks towards him, she holds his hands, "Are you fine?" he smiles at Alex and Mia, "we will be fine. Are you strong enough to go to your dads cabin?" Alex stares into Lukes eyes."Are you sure?" He nods his head and smile "Yes"

Luke looks at Mia, "You are loving because you have experienced hate and you chose to love, are you up for an adventure mia," she sobs as she hugs Luke. "I am sorry I got you upset", "No, it's not your fault, I am sorry I reacted that way, but I believe it was meant to happen, because now I have gotten clarity" I love you both.

Luke hugs Alex and Mia. "Go get ready, we move in thirty minutes." Alex holds Luke's hand, she smiles at him, and Mia rushes out of the room to get her things.
