Love in a Glass

Alex and Luke's connection was palpable. They'd steal glances, their hands brushing, sending shivers. One night, they sat on the beach, stars above, waves below. Luke's fingers intertwined with Alex's, his voice low, "You're the tide that calms my storm."

Alex leaned in, her lips grazing his ear, "You're the anchor I didn't know I needed." The kiss was like the sea – unpredictable, raw, and breathtaking. Alex and Luke sneak away, exploring hidden caves, laughing, touching, Luke showed Alex the island's secrets; she painted the sunsets. Their love was a dance – waves crashing, retreating, repeating.

Mia is at home, she hears footsteps walking towards the door, she smiles at the door in anticipation of seeing Luke and Alex. Door opens as Alex comes into the house alone, she asks where is Luke, Alex walks towards her, she hugs her and says everything is going to be alright, I dont understand Mia replied, Alex told Mia, Luke had gone to the town clinic, her dad has had a fight in the bar and was badly injured. Mia begins to sob, I told Luke it was a bad idea for me to come here. Alex consoles her on her shoulders, and said "Everything is going to be alright" he will be fine, it was not as bad as you would think.

Sunset arose, Alex turns to the bed, she stares at Mia sleeping, she gets up and walk towards the shelf, she opens her dad's journal and continue to read.

Alex is full of surprise as she drops the journal on the floor, the sound creaks waking Mia, what is it Alex, Mia asked, "what happened to my dad" Alex turns to her, "Nothing happend" I will take you to the town clinc so you can see your dad, but then I have to rush out. Where are you going to? Alex responded "I just found out my dad has a cabin north from this town, I think that's where he was taking me to before our boat capsized, I need to go there, my mom could be there, hence I dont need to go back, we can all start over in this town" Mia looks at Alex, "I dont want to be alone, can I come with you"

Alex takes a breathe, "Okay, you'll go with me, but i will take you to the hospital first so you can see your dad and then we can go" Mia gets up "let me go wash up" she leaves the room. Alex exhales, she feels some kind of relieve.

Alex and Mia gets to the hospital, Luke is seated at the emergency unit, he sights them, hastily gets up and walk up to them, "what are you doing here" he asks, Mia wanted to see her dad so I had to bring her before leaving for my dad's cabin. "Your dad's cabin" Yes, i just read in his journal he has a cabin north from this town, I am assuming my mom is there and so, there will be no need for me to journey through the waters to go meet her.

Luke is full of relief, he looks at Mia, dad will be fine, the doctor said so, can I at least take a look at him, mia replied, I dont know but we'll wait for the doctor to get here, then we could all see him and go see Alex's dad cabin before going home.

I don't think that will be a good idea, Alex says, "I don't want my mom thinking I am insensitive to her feelings and I moved on too quickly". Luke seems not to understand her point of view, "where is this coming from, you were hurt and we help you, you have not moved on yet, you are just recuperating " Alex nods her head in disapproval "Luke you dont know my family, you dont have an idea of what my mom will think about me, she just lost her husband, and her daughter that survived bearly hasn't mourned well has a charming Prince and a sweet girl, she'll think i am so cheap" Luke is obviously disappointed, he looks at Mia, holds her hand and turns to Alex. "You know what, you can go, go to your dads cabin alone, I hope you see your mom there and if she isn't there you can come back home, but for now I and Mia have a father we need to look after and he needs us as much as we need him" he takes mia and walk away, mia turns and look at Alex as they both walk away. Alex break down in tears and sob. Luke doesn't look back, he continues to walk towards the ward.

Alex sobs as she walks down the woods, the weather is windy, she begins to sing as she walk down the hoods.

"I Shouldn't be here with you"

Rain begins to fall, she stops singing and start running in the woods, she pauses and looks for a shelter where she can hide, she sees none, so she continues to run.

"Thunder strike and lightening"

Alex is anxious, she continues to run and sobs, afterwards she stumble on a stone and falls to the ground and goes down into a ditch hitting her head on a log of wood. Alex passes out.

Luke and Mia gets home, it is getting dark Mia says, why isn't she back? Probably she's with her mom at her dad's cabin, how can you be certain mia replies, I think you have to go out and look for her, if you say you love her so much no matter how upset you are, you have to show her you care about her and you want what's best for her.

"But she left" Luke says, if you were in her shoes wouldn't you do same, if mom comes back to us, wouldn't you take her back? Family is family irrespective of how they treat us, Mia replies. Luke stares at her, You were always the smarter one, I will take my gears and go look for her, if she is in her mom cabin, you'll know when I'm back. And if she isn't, Mia replied, "Then I will find her and bring her home".

Luke takes his hunting gun and a torchlight and leaves. He gets out of the house, he looks at the stars "The stars i pray Alex is fine" he begins to walk deep into the woods, the night seems to be getting dark. "Alex" Luke shouts, he continues into the woods as he screams her name again. He gets close to where Alex fell, he sees a ditch opened, he screams Alex.

Alex is inside the ditch, still unconscious, Luke looks down the ditch and sees Alex. He screams again "Alex i am coming to get you, stay with me"
