Chapter 8 Beatrice was embroiled in an affair with a gallery curator when she took over the guesthouse left to her in my grandmother’s will in 1988. She really didn’t have time to do anything with a business. Despite being able to tell anyone who cared to listen about art history and obscure painters, she knew nothing of business and had no head for practicalities, the total antithesis of my grandmother.
