TWELVE Under the cover of darkness, Hanson surveyed the wall that shielded the western side of Brimfield through infrared binoculars. He was looking for the small gap he and Ben had found when they were children roaming around on the outskirts of the half-breed zone. As in Harlington, the Brimfield zone had once been a school. The administration block at the front had been turned into an orphanage, while most of the classrooms were converted into homes for half-breed families.
