The warden beside Callum shifted uneasily as he approached the house from which screams had erupted just moments ago. Now all was silent. Checking his surroundings, he noted the position of the wardens that had come with him from High Command, where he had ordered them to deploy. He held two stun guns, one of which had been modified to shoot the dart containing a dose of the cure.
A way back, another ring of wardens watched on. Some of them were there on behalf of High Command to bear witness. The others were from the Dalwaring Ward, with standard stun guns at the ready in case the trial went wrong. But it wouldn’t go wrong. Callum had faith in the cure devised by Captain Kyle’s half-breed. He just had to show the others and then they would know the renegades were working for the
