NINETEEN Hanson kept a firm hold on Hannah’s hand as they ran down the street and took refuge in a dark alley, Leon and the others close at their heels. They all squeezed in behind a large truck, gasping for breath after their madcap run through countless streets since they had escaped the detention centre. There had been no thought given to their route, just the need to put as much distance as possible between them and the guards. The sound of booted feet rang out in the distance and Hanson waved a hand to get the attention of the others. They were making too much noise. The guards would hear them for sure.
