Settled Up

Alana's POV     I arrived to what would be our home for four years. A beautiful blue Victorian house. Yes, I’ll be roomies with my two best friends. It will be a fun four years. I got out of my car and admired the sight.      A few minutes later Lloyd and Lucas arrived. “You drive slow” I said as they were getting out of the car.     “Oh sorry princess, but I actually value my life” he said jokingly.     “Since when? You’ve been a fan of speed since you started to drive” Lucas said as he was taking his belongings out of the trunk.     I let out a laugh. “Well, I actually value being on time” I said, facing Lloyd again with one eyebrow raised.      “There’s no winning with you. Never was” he replied.     We stood there gazing at each other. We didn’t realize we were until Lucas broke the silence. “Hey guys, we need the keys, so if you could please hurry and open the door”     It was an awkward moment. We were best friends, but ever since high school started I had felt some sort of admiration and attractions towards him. But I had kept it a secret. I’m not sure how he would react if I told him, so I’ll just keep it to myself.      We went in the house and the inside was even more beautiful.      “Thank you dad for having friends in high places” Although my dad came from money and mom had a successful career too I always value family first. But this time I’ll make an exception. This house is amazing.      The boys ran to pick their rooms, I did the same. I found this beautiful room at the end of the hallway. As I was settling myself down, I heard a knock on my open door. I looked up and it was Lloyd.      “I hope you’re settling down okay” he said.     “I am. This house is perfect”     “We gotta thank your parents for that” he said sitting down next to me in my bed.      “I am grateful, but I don’t want them to be spoiling me anymore. They’ve done that all my life. I want to be independent. Well, except for the house” I laughed and he soon joined.      After a few seconds of silence he stood up and headed to the door.      “Well, I’ll leave you to your unpacking. I gotta go on campus and sign up for baseball, before the slots fill in” he said sending me a wink and a smile my way.      I blushed. ‘Wait what? You’re not supposed to blush. He’s your best friend. You were practically raised together’ I thought to myself. I decided to ignore my thoughts and kept unpacking.      “Hey! I’m ordering take out. Do you want something?” Lucas stood by the doorway. You’re probably wondering how can I tell the twins apart.      Well, their haircuts are different. Lucas hair falls to his shoulders in beautiful blonde waves, as for Lloyd, his is shorter. He loved to keep it on the messy side while Lucas loved to comb it down nicely.      There’s another thing that can tell them apart. Lucas has a birthmark on his jawline. Lloyd doesn’t have any. Well not any visible, but he has one on his abs. I’ve seen him shirtless, don’t judge me.      “Alana, hello” he said snapping his fingers in front of me pulling me out of my thoughts.      “Yes, I’ll have what you’ll have” I said. I really didn’t have the mind to think about what to eat.      He walked out and I laid in bed. These will definitely be a fun and interesting four years.
