I can't explain the anger boiling inside me when I saw Nathaniel talking to my girlfriend. Yeah, that's right. He is not even worthy to be called a father, hasn't been one in a long time. You could just google "absent father," and his picture would pop right up. Good man, my ass.
Walking into Ana's house felt surreal. I haven't been here in a while. She and I weren't exactly close buddies, but we did get along. To some extent, I guess. Her parents were holding a repast, and I wished I could be any place else. Don't particularly enjoy being anywhere near my sperm donor.
The place was packed with most faces I didn't even recognise. Did they know Ana at all or just here to wine, dine, and catch up with old friends?. It seriously felt more like a house party than a funeral reception.Just pay your f*****g respects and leave.
I see my mom and made a beeline toward her while taking a shitload of deep breaths before I lost my s**t.
She was best friends with Mrs Whitmore, Ana's mom. I don't really know what transpired between them, and to be honest, I really don't give a damn.
"Hey, that's my baby boy!" she exclaims, opening her arms wide and her face breaking into a smile despite the sorrowful atmosphere. I playfully roll my eyes, returning the embrace. "How are you doing, ma?". "I could ask the same about you. Ana was one of your best friends."
she replied. " Yeah,I didn't know Nate was coming to town." I stated, quickly changing the subject. I'm truly sad about Ana, but she's not the priority right now.Sue me."Why didn't you tell me?" I continued. "Well honey, I thought it would be of your best interest seeing as you're not in a good place right now." she answered defensively. "It would have been nice for a heads up, you know, I'm not a child. I said. "He's not even here for me. Like always, work comes first." I continued hotly. " Don't say that, honey, he loves you." she replied. " Why do you keep siding with him when he's at fault?" I asked bitterly. " I'm always on your side, Tobias. Always." she replied. "Well, you have a weird way of showing it." I answered, wanting to end the conversation. "Tobi-" "I'll see you at home, mom." I said, cutting her off.
I spotted my friends in a corner, and i went to meet them. I couldn't wait for this day to end.
