‘Damn alarm clock. Why must you wake me up’ I think as I snuggle back into my nest of blankets and warmth, ‘s**t I have to get up for work. On a side note it's a half day so that's a positive.’ As I struggle to get out of bed I smell hashbrowns and eggs and my mouth waters. Normally I don't eat breakfast but I can make an exception for hash browns. I make my way to the kitchen and see Joseph completing the last of the eggs while smiling at me. “I know you have to get to work so I thought I’d make some breakfast for us before you have to go. I hope this is okay.” he asks sheepishly, “I really wanted to do something for you cause you made dinner last night so I hope I did alright.” I go to sit down in my chair and Joseph comes over with a plate of hash browns and eggs for me and then gets one himself. As I go to take a bite of hash browns I expected them to taste good but the taste I get is amazing. “I love hash browns and I think I just fell in love with yours. Thank you for making me some as well. This is the perfect start to my day!” I say with full enthusiasm toward Joseph.
“Thanks. I’m glad I could help with making your day better. What do your tattoos mean? You don’t have to tell me but I’m just curious to know.”
“Well the wolf on my right forearm is to remind me that I have friends that I can rely on and the dragon on my left forearm is for me to remember that I do have power over myself. To me they help try and erase the past of bad and replace them with the good.”
“Wow! Sorry to cut this short but you have 30 minutes until you need to leave.”
“Well thank you again for breakfast. I should be home around 2:35ish. Duke come and eat your food.” As I make my way to clean my plate up, I also give Duke his food for the morning. “I’m going to get ready.” I tell Joseph. I showered last night so I don’t need to shower in the morning and I don’t really ever put make-up on so all I need is teeth brushed, clothes, and accessories. My clothes consist of black jeans, black combat hiking boots, navy blue scrub top, and a leather jacket. Since I’ll be gone for a while I decide to take my motorcycle to work and grab my helmet and gloves. “Bye Joseph.” I yell to him as I walk to the garage.
As I arrive inside the office I'm immediately slammed with patients and their pets. Cam, my technician, walks into my office in the back of the building, “Dr. Knight in exam room 1 has Mrs. Chase with her 2 year old neutered male horse named Spot. She's in for Spots monthly check up. Also Mr. Green is coming in later for a check up on his pregnant cow. That should be your entire day.”
“Thank you Cam. Is Alec going to be here later?”
“He should be after you leave today.”
“Alright let's go take care of Mrs. Chase and Spot.”
