Best Friends and More

Chapter 2

Present

“s**t! Duke I have to go. You are going to make me late.” I exclaim to my lovely German Shepherd who hates when I leave him, “Come on Duke. I need to go.”  While Duke is tugging at my pants and I finally manage to make an escape from my house. Getting in my car I look at the clock and see I'm 5 minutes late. ‘Well shit.’ is my first thought. Driving like a semi normal person would to the airport to pick up an old friend. 

Arriving at the busy airport I found a reasonable parking spot not too far away and began my speed walking to the entrance. ‘Now to find a seat and wait for him.’ 

30 long a*s minutes later I finally hear, “Chloe. You’re actually here!” says a voice as I'm engulfed in a bear hug, “Damn I’ve missed you.” says Joseph, “Has it really been 5 years? You really have changed.” 

I have changed but not only in the way Joseph thinks. Sure my actual appearance has changed but also my attitude towards other new people. I had my red shoulder length, blue-grey eyes, and I was kinda chubby. Now my red hair is still shoulder length but dyed blue at the ends, I’m fitter, and I have 2 tattoos on both of my inner forearms. My choice of clothing has not changed at all though. A dark blue jacket, black jeans, and some black hiking combat boots. “Well it really has. I haven’t changed that much but looking at you I see people do change.” I mean he really didn’t change much with a crew cut, a tight fitting green shirt, black ripped jeans, and black converse.  “Well let's get going. I have questions to ask you.” I say while moving towards my car. We loaded up all of his stuff into my trunk and started on our journey. 

“Alright, first question: Are you still down for going on the trip tomorrow afternoon?” I ask.

“All I need is some sleep then I'm good. My question is, Who all is going?” he responds.

“I think Jonas, Nha, Aaron, and Nolan are going, that you know. Also Keaton and Emma which you don’t know.  Oh and some good news Nolan and Nha are dating, Jonas and Emma are dating, and Aaron and Keaton are also dating. I take credit for bringing Nolan and Nha together and Aaron and Keaton together.” I say proudly, “But we will leave at 4 pm tomorrow. I have to go to work till 2. Are you still staying with me?”

“Yes. If you’re still okay with it. Do I need to do anything while you’re at work?” 

“All you need to do is pack and maybe walk Duke. Other than that everyone should be at my house around 3.”

“Alright but who is Duke and when are you going to be home?”

“Duke is my dog. I should be home at about 2:35ish. I should warn you about Duke. If he doesn't like you then you will know. He won’t be aggressive towards you but won’t like to be around you. Well here we are.” As I pull up to my house, you can see Duke jumping inside through the window. The house is a 2 bedroom and 3 bath with a modern kitchen, living room, small dining room, and an office. “I guess we can take a quick tour then you can relax for a while while I make some dinner. Are tacos okay?” 

“Yep. They already sound delicious.” 

“Alright now for the tour.”
