WEEK 2 How to design characters?

Step 1: Design the background of the protagonist

Nameless was an abandoned baby in the dump site of Hell’s Point. She was adopted by a trash collector named Gugu Prian. She grew up in the smoking mountain of dump with her father and hasn’t known how to get along with her peers. A busy man from dawn until dusk, Gugu didn’t even care of giving her a proper name. When city officials came to record each new birth and death in the city, Nameless was listed under the same name.

Step 2: Figure out your character’s personality

Nameless is a quiet child who seldom smiles. Her words are always short and clipped. She doesn’t easily react when confronted with a situation but her temper has been known to be explosive. When she gets under the haze of anger, she turns from a silent child into a cold, cruel one as if her body houses two different personalities.

Step 3: Figure out the physical features

Nameless is thin due to malnutrition but is lithe and agile on her feet. She stands at five and eight inches, has a small face and big silver eyes. Her hair was shorn past below her shoulders. She wears a perpetual scowl that doesn’t seem to go away even in her sleep. She always wears black or dark colors.

Step 4: Build social relationships

Blue - Nameless’ best friend who turned to be her enemy because she killed his father. They will eventually meet again, standing on different sides and fighting for their own beliefs.
