Chapter 25It had been years since Roberto had been to the bars on Halsted. The strip between Addison and Belmont lined with rainbow pylons had been the city’s Boystown for as long as he could recall. The fact that there were folks trying to call it Northalsted these days barely registered on his, or most, gay peoples’ radars. Tonight, he simply couldn’t stand one more night alone in his apartment, eating pizza from Giordano’s over on Sheridan Road and watching yet another episode of Benidorm on Britbox. At first, it was refreshing to be by himself, to walk down to the lakefront late at night and to gaze out at the moonlight reflected on the dark, undulating water.
