Chapter 4: the park

747 Words
When we got to the park we put the blanket on the grass so that we could sit on it. I start writing in my book of observations "Quite an interesting idea for a first date honestly, normally people go to Starbucks or some restaurant but not this guy, this guy plans picnic dates with stable drinks. I'm intrigued." I look up at him to catch him staring at me "you stare at me a lot" I tell him, he laughs "it's like you with that book, just like you cannot put it down I can't stop looking at you" he says with an unfamiliar shimmer in his eyes, that shimmer convinced me to believe him but it's still uncomfortable and foreign. A kind of feeling I've never felt before. we spent the day talking, getting to know each other, walking around the park looking at the scenery, exchanging little gestures and glances. He likes most of the things I like. His favorite type of music is contemporary RNB and he can cook. It's safe to say, I am in love. We've packed the basket and the blanket and we decided to head on home because we've had quite the adventurous day but then Mr. Miles remembers that he is obsessed with Cotton candy and a street vendor selling it just happened to pass us. His inner child ran towards the vendor leaving me in place on the path so that he can share a part of his childhood with me. "My mother used to get me one every time we would pass a sweet vendor" miles says through his beaming smile from the grass. I don't know but the more I look at him the more I feel like I know him. So we head to the car since it's getting late, we've been at the Park for 3 whole hours because we enjoyed each other's company. He needed to go home and change first because he felt sweaty because of the heat. I genuinely didn't mind though because I didn't want to be at home. the fact that I feel more relaxed and at home when im at someone else house should speak volumes. It was a relaxed car ride back with the enjoyable music playing. when we reach our destination He gets out of the car and opens the door for me to seem decent im assuming not that I mind. The entire time I was writing down things I've seen today noticing the trees, the flowers the picnic ground, his scent when it's mixed with the wild pollen smell. I'm pretty nervous about the whole meeting the parents thing considering I haven't even updated my title to girlfriend yet so this is quite a leap. We enter the living room and see his parents sitting on the couch watching us in astonishment, maybe because they weren't expecting him to bring a girl home but we will never know. "Moma im home and I brought a friend" Miles announces as he walks through the corridor. he then continues" she's my friend, don't be weird and im going to take a shower then im going to take her home" his mother seemed content with the idea but then she said " what have you been doing today? why would he need to take a shower? and if he's taking one aren't you going to need one too?" My brain: Mr. And Mrs. Ross it's a pleasure to make your Acquaintance or some fancy thing like that My mouth translates: Hi, your house is nice and fancy. (I could kick myself at this point) His mother smiles at me awkwardly "it's okay, im not as intimidating as I look." I don't know why im so nervous it's like I've never met a guy's mom before. " im Avalon, miles, and I met at Starbucks. we went to the park today, sat in the sun for too long now he's sweaty. that's why he needed to come home and take a shower." his mother nods and says "I'll make you a snack while you wait for him" I go over to the kitchen counter and sit on one of the bar chairs and start nibbling on what looks like cheese and crackers. We have a normal civilized conversation and she is not as scary as she looks with her dark brown hair, green intimidating eyes and perfect lips. His dad left the moment we entered the room.
