Chapter 10

292 Words
CHAPTER 10 When I got home, there were two messages blinking on my answering machine. When did I become so popular? I listened to them as I sorted the mail. The first was Aunt Peg leaving me the name and number of Adam's therapist, Dr. Simon. The other was Susan Doyle asking if Adam would be able to take a polygraph in the future. What perfect timing, what synchronicity! Dr. Simon was the one person who could answer Susan's question. Not to mention I had some questions of my own for the good doctor. At least I hoped he was a good doctor… I needed something to go right, especially since Spike's will had been such a dead end (Jamie, this isn't the time to make bad jokes!) Time was not on my side, and the Rolling Stones' couldn't convince me otherwise. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure Spike's murder had been a crime of passion or opportunity. Nobody plans to kill with a didgeridoo, for heaven's sake, especially one that wasn't there a week earlier. It had to be a person with access to the store, or someone Spike knew, which narrowed the possibilities to the following: 1) A break-in gone bad, OR 2) One of the Zombies, OR 3) A teacher, OR 4) A student (parent of a student?) OR 5) Someone who hated Spike for a reason yet to be determined. I suppose that's why Susan Doyle had sent me three pages of questions. Answer all of those, and you'll find your killer. Although Marian Wolinsky would have some of the answers, if I wanted to tackle the tough questions, I'd have to call him, the president of his own fan club, Duke Broussard.
