FADE IN: INT. RECORDS CHAMBER – CONTINUOUS The brass handle turned slowly. Click... No one breathed. Evelyn motioned for everyone to stay silent. The door opened only a few inches. A shadow stretched across the stone floor. Then came the familiar voice. "Evelyn, this is your last warning." Jordan clenched his fists. "That's Grant." Evelyn shook her head. "No." "I've known Grant for twenty years." She looked toward the door. "That isn't his real voice." INT. RECORDS CHAMBER – CONTINUOUS The shadow stepped into the room. The figure wore the uniform of a school administrator. The face... Was Vice Principal Grant's. But something felt wrong. His movements were stiff. His smile never reached his eyes. He looked at Maya. "You've made this much harder than it needed to be." Maya took a step back. "Who are you?" The man smiled. "I'm exactly who you think I am." Evelyn spoke firmly. "No." "You're the Mimic." The man's smile widened. "So... someone still remembers that name." INT. RECORDS CHAMBER Jordan frowned. "The Mimic?" Evelyn nodded. "He doesn't just copy voices." "He studies people." "Their habits." "Their expressions." "Their fears." She looked at Maya. "If you've ever received a message that sounded like someone you trusted..." "...it may have come from him." Maya remembered the anonymous notes. The fake cries for help. The voice that had sounded like Noah behind the steel door. "It was you..." The Mimic gave a slow clap. "Very good." He bowed theatrically. "I've spent years making people question what is real." INT. RECORDS CHAMBER – MOMENTS LATER The Mimic's smile faded. "But I'm not here for you." His eyes shifted to the shelves behind Evelyn. "I'm here for the records." Evelyn stepped in front of the shelves. "You'll never take them." The Mimic sighed. "I was hoping you'd say that." He snapped his fingers. The lights went out. In the darkness, the sound of shattering glass echoed through the chamber. Emma screamed. Jordan switched on his flashlight. Its beam swept across the room. The Mimic was gone. One of the shelves had been knocked over. Dozens of journals lay scattered across the floor. Maya hurried to help Evelyn. "Are you okay?" Evelyn nodded. "Check the blue ledger." Jordan found it beneath the fallen shelf. The lock had been forced open. Several pages had been ripped out. "What was on these pages?" Evelyn's face grew pale. "The list." "What list?" "The names of every student Project Hallway ever chose." INT. RECORDS CHAMBER – CONTINUOUS Maya carefully turned the remaining pages. Most names had faded with time. Some were crossed out. Some had notes beside them. Then she reached the final page. Only three names remained. Mara Thompson Noah Reed Maya Thompson Jordan scanned the page. "Where's my name?" Evelyn frowned. "It should be there." She searched again. Nothing. Mr. Ellis looked puzzled. "But Jordan was on the file in Archive B." Evelyn slowly closed the ledger. "Then someone removed his name." Maya looked up. "Why would anyone do that?" A quiet voice answered from the doorway. "Because Jordan was never the target." Everyone spun around. Vice Principal Grant stood there. This time... It really was him. His clothes were torn. A cut ran across his forehead. He looked exhausted. He glanced at the shattered records. "The Mimic got here first." Maya didn't lower her guard. "How do we know you're the real Grant?" Grant reached into his coat and removed a worn photograph. It showed him standing beside the Keeper and a much younger Evelyn. On the back was a handwritten note. Three guardians. One promise. Grant looked at Maya with a seriousness she had never seen before. "The Director sent me." "He said it's time you learned the truth about your family." The room fell silent. Then Grant added the words Maya had dreaded hearing. "Your parents didn't just hide Mara from you." "They hid your brother, too." Maya stared at him. "My... brother?" Jordan's eyes widened. Emma gasped. Mr. Ellis looked as shocked as everyone else. Grant nodded slowly. "He's alive." To be continued in Episode 6 – Part 4...
