The Mask Falls

FADE IN: INT. ESCAPE TUNNEL – CONTINUOUS The stone door sealed shut behind them. The echoes of the mysterious voice lingered in the darkness. Jordan stopped walking. "...If that wasn't the Caretaker..." He looked at Maya. "...then who did we meet?" No one answered. For the first time, even Mr. Ellis looked completely unsure. "We've been outplayed," he admitted quietly. INT. UNDERGROUND PASSAGE – MINUTES LATER The tunnel opened into an abandoned maintenance station. Rusted pipes lined the ceiling. Water dripped steadily into a shallow pool. Emma sat on an old wooden crate, trying to catch her breath. "I don't understand anymore." "Who can we trust?" Maya thought about everything that had happened. The Director had warned them. The Keeper had protected them. Grant had helped them escape. The anonymous notes had guided them. And now... One of those people might not have been who they claimed to be. "It feels like someone wants us to doubt everyone," Maya said. Jordan nodded. "And that's exactly how they stay hidden." INT. MAINTENANCE STATION Mr. Ellis unfolded the old map again. He noticed something he had overlooked. "Look." He pointed to a small symbol near the edge of the page. It resembled half of a bell. Beneath it were the handwritten words: Mirror Hall Emma frowned. "That's not on any school map." "It wouldn't be," Mr. Ellis replied. "It was built before the school." Maya traced the route with her finger. "It connects to the east wing..." "...and ends beneath the old science building." Jordan looked up. "The science building that's been closed for renovations?" Mr. Ellis nodded. "Or so they say." EXT. WESTBROOK HIGH – DAWN The first rays of sunlight broke over the campus. Students began arriving as if it were just another ordinary day. Buses rolled in. Teachers unlocked classrooms. No one knew what lay beneath their feet. Maya stood at the front gate, staring at the school. She whispered, "How many secrets can one place hold?" Emma walked beside her. "As many as people are willing to hide." For a moment, they simply watched the students laugh and talk. It was strange. The school looked completely normal. INT. SCIENCE BUILDING – AFTER SCHOOL The old science wing had been locked for years. Windows were covered with plywood. A faded sign read: CLOSED FOR STRUCTURAL REPAIRS Jordan tested the side door. Locked. Mr. Ellis reached into his pocket and smiled. "I kept one key they forgot about." Click. The door creaked open. Dust filled the air. Rows of old laboratory tables stood untouched. Beakers and microscopes were still scattered across the shelves. It looked as though everyone had left in a hurry years ago. Then Maya noticed something. On the chalkboard, written in faded white chalk, were four words: THE MIRROR NEVER LIES. Jordan slowly turned toward the large wall mirror at the back of the room. It was cracked from top to bottom. As he approached it... A figure appeared in the reflection. Not behind them. Only in the mirror. A teenage boy. Dark hair. A school uniform unlike the current one. He raised one finger and pointed toward the floor. Then he vanished. Emma gasped. "Did everyone see that?" Everyone nodded. Maya knelt where the boy had pointed. She brushed away years of dust. A metal ring was embedded in one of the floor tiles. Together, they pulled. The tile lifted, revealing a hidden compartment. Inside was a cassette recorder. Attached to it was a note. In neat handwriting, it read: For Maya. From Caleb. Maya's hands shook. She looked at Grant's birth record again. Caleb. Her brother. Could he really have left this? She pressed PLAY. Static filled the room. Then a young man's voice spoke. "Maya..." "If you're hearing this..." "...I finally found a way to reach you." Maya's eyes filled with tears. "It really is him..." The recording continued. "I don't have much time." "You've been told to fear the Director." "You've been told to trust the Keeper." "Both stories are incomplete." A loud burst of static interrupted the message. Then Caleb whispered one final sentence: Don't let them open the Seventh Door. The tape clicked to an end. Before anyone could react— A loud metallic alarm echoed through the abandoned science building. WARNING. UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED. Hidden lights flickered on throughout the room. A mechanical voice repeated: Seventh Door security activated. The cracked mirror slowly slid aside. Behind it was a narrow staircase descending into darkness. At the bottom... A steel door stood waiting. Across it, in large black letters, were the words: SEVENTH DOOR The group stared in stunned silence. Maya took one slow step toward it. The mystery had just become much bigger than Westbrook High. END OF EPISODE 6 To Be Continued in Episode 7: The Seventh Door
