MORRIS/MR.CHESTNUT Damn was all I could think as she walked out the door. I was interrogating her to shift my focus from her sexy ass legs. I don't know if I can hire her, simply because I probably won't be able to concentrate. Her application was good, but what I like about her most is her drive, her will, which is something we don't see too much these days. It's been three days since she applied and I figured I'd call because I let her sweat enough. I picked up the phone off the desk and called her personal phone. "Hello." Her angelic voice rang through the phone. "Yes, I'm calling for Ms. James." "Speaking." "You got the secretarial job. Your first day is tomorrow at 8:00 A.M. don't be late, I know you tend to do that." I said teasing her a bit. "Hilarious." She chuckled. Thank you so much. I won't disappoint!" "I bet you won't," I smirked to myself thinking about how her hips swayed as she hastily left my office a few days ago. "Excuse me?" "I said don't be late." I quickly hung up before she could say anything. I'm such an i***t. BRIA I woke up early the next day and prepared for work. Yesterday after I was informed that I got the job I took Ariela and I to do a little shopping. I went downtown and realized I couldn't really afford anything, so I went to my favorite thrift shop. To my surprise, they restocked and added a lot of upscale, quality clothing, so I picked up Ariela and I a few outfits. After we did that, I decided I would take her out to dinner to celebrate. I put my outfit on and my old, worn, black blazer over it. I added my black pair of heels and brushed my hair into a sleek ponytail. One thing I loved about this job is that they had aftercare, but you have to register your child first. With school coming up I won't need the see aftercare for that long, but I'm going to registering her today and Melissa is watching her 'til I get off work. "Ari wake up." I said shaking her. "Yes, mommy?" "Get up baby Ms. Melissa is coming in ten minutes." I checked the clocked on my phone and the time was 7:05 A.M. I was determined to be on time so I quickly got Ariela dressed and cooked a small breakfast that consisted of eggs, bacon, and jelly toast. Melissa arrived right after breakfast was done so I told her to help herself. I then kissed and hugged Ariela goodbye and I was on my way. I arrived at 7:40, with twenty minutes to spare. After I clocked in, I made my way up to his office. When I got there he was unbuttoning his shirt. I took a moment to admire the six-pack bulging from his shirt. When I felt drool coming, I decided to clear my throat and knock. "Uhmm." "Oh! Ms. Banks, I'm sorry about this. I was rushing this morning and I spilled coffee on myself." He laughed noticeably embarrassed. "It's f-fine." I mentally cursed myself for stuttering. "Can I finish in front of you, or do you want to leave." I was shocked by his words. Yesterday he was basically hounding me about how unprofessional being late is, but he offered to change in front of me like we were old friends. I smell a hypocrite. "I'll leave." He nodded and I quickly exited the room because if I spent another second with him, I don't know what I would've done. Five minutes later he was done and he notified me what needed to be done. "You will be responsible for scheduling all of my appointments and meetings and my daughter's events also. You will also need to bring my lunch and coffee in the morning every day. I like my coffee dark with five sugars. My lunch depends on how I'm feeling that day. You will be filing cases in alphabetical order and checking my mailbox every morning. Luckily I did that this morning, and my schedule is already set a week ahead. Any questions." I shook my head no. I was a little bummed that he said daughter because it automatically made me assume that he was married. "Okay, your first task will be to put these records on the computer." He said handing me a thick folder of papers. I grabbed it from him, knocking a cup of pens off his desk in the process. Forgetting that I had a skirt on, I immediately bent down to pick them up. I was almost done when I heard a groan. "Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm fine." He said groaning once again. I quickly got up and put the pens on the desk, and got the files. "Can you show me my office?" "Of course." He leads me down the hall to a spacious office with a view. It was nothing compared to his, but it was suitable. "Around noon I will need to go get my daughter. Just go to the aftercare quarters, say that you're my assistant, and ask for Talia." I nodded, understanding his words. "Now get to work." He said sternly while smiling. I returned the smile and walked to the desk to get to work. ******** Noon rolled around fast and by then I was finally done publishing the records, and I was going to pick up his lunch. I walked into the office to see him pacing and yelling on the phone. "No! That couldn't possibly work! He already pleaded guilty to three consecutive life sentences." "....." "So how can we ask for a whole new trial on a murder case that the suspect ADMITTED to doing!" "....." "I know that was your brother, but he killed that man and stood in front of the judge and that man's family with no remorse. He deserves to rot in jail honestly!" "......" "You're making no sense. Get off my phone." He said angrily turning around, startled to be greeted by my face. "Ms. Banks, have you ever heard of knocking?" He questioned angrily. "Yes, s-." "Then do it. I could've been naked or something." He stated with a chuckle. I would've loved that. "Oh really?" Did I say that out loud? "Yeah, you did." He grinned. I have to stop doing that! "You should. I'm assuming you came to ask about lunch." "Uh yes, sir. What would you like?" "There's an Italian place called Shapiro's finest right up the street, could you swing by and get me a large order of baked ziti with a side of chicken parmesan. For Talia get a slice of pizza and a chocolate chip cookie. For drinks, I want a large sprite and get a Talia high-c orange." "Got it." "You can order you something and put it on my tab." "Oh no I ca-." "You don't have a choice. Now hurry up." He growled. This dude here. I just nodded and exited to get lunch.
