Dancing till your feet are sore

After our grand entrance, we must of only been dancing 10 minutes when Seth came up to Layla. He tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention as she was in some seriously sassy hip shaking move. Without missing a beat and obviously knowing he was there watching her! She grabbed him and they swung into a little shimmy of their own. With a flourish at the end, of course. One day they may stop flirty and actually become a couple. We clapped and that was Dawn’s opportunity to go to the bar, as usual. “Saw you entrance, your a sensual senorita!” Seth said laughing with his arm over Layla’s shoulders and giving her a hip bump. But addressing us all, with his comment. “Oh yeah liked that one did ya Seth?” Jo piped in laughing. “Gotta hand it to you girls, making an entrance is your forte!” We all laughed again, shrugging. Well what can we say to that. Desired effect achieved. “I’m joining Dawn at the bar girls.” I said and made my way over to find Dawn. She’s never hard to find in the assembly rooms especially at party’s. She’s mates with the bar maid and other employees here due to this. Friends of friends and all. She could be found in her corner booth, a bottle of Jack or Rum depending on her mood. It was Jack tonight, I swung in next to her. Nodded at the bar maid when I caught her eye and she popped me over a glass and a few cans of coke. I poured myself a drink and say back, enjoying the music and the atmosphere of the night. The full moon had just been so the Werewolves were pretty chilled for them. Which only meant they weren’t starting fights, every 5 minutes. “So the talk huh?” I said to Dawn and she instantly cradled her head in her hands. “Honestly she wasn’t even quiet about it mate, Charlie heard the hole thing. I mean it wasn’t just the s*x talk, I was 16 last month so I definitely knew that talk was coming.” She paused and took a long swig of her drink, she shivered and looked at me smiling. “She thinks I’m going to run off with some human druid, mate and bring ultimate shame to our family! Sully our pedigree blood line all cause theirs no mages around here.” Dawn hung her head in shame of her own mother’s views of her. I couldn’t help but laugh! “It could be worse, you could secretly have the hot’s for a certain hybrid. A human Druid is tame in comparison!" This got the desired effect and had her laughing. “Not like I’m going to drop Layla in it though, but hell yeah that’s a damn good comparison! can you imagine her face? Mum I'm running off with a Hybrid" Dawn shakes her head and laughs. “They do suit each other though don’t they? I mean, do you wish sometimes that we were just human and normal?” As she asked me this, I already knew my answer. Yes definitely some times. It would be so much simpler. We would go to school, our extra curricular activities would all be normal. Volley-ball, netball just hanging out like the humans did. But no we had before school classes and after school classes. All to be the best coven leaders of our houses. High priestess of spirit was mine, Dawn was earth, Eloise was air, Layla was fire and Jo was water. All 3rd in line to be the high priestess for our house and leaders of the coven. Together forever. Our friendship was hailed and said to be the making of the witches. This had never happened before, in the five houses, the five original families of the sacred craft had never had such a promising coven. Our forever friendship was admired by covens all over the world as inspirational. That our grandparents and parents had kept our families lines pure blood and all had gifted witch daughters on the same year to stand as one. I’m not sure what is meant to happen when we ascend into power, not even half of our powers have manifested yet either and we already kick-ass. I’m brought out of my musings by Dawn, clearing her throat and looking at me like I grew an extra head! “Do I take that as a yes then” she asked. I laughed sourly, “Yeah I guess I do.” We sat in comfortable silence, sipping on our drinks enjoying the night. We could see Layla and Seth dancing and Jo and Eloise were just coming out looking for us. They had reached the hall, out of the dance floor. When a massive gust of wind nearly blew everyone in the hall over. The power surge that came after was the scary part. Witches were easily spotted nearly brought to their knees. Werewolves started to shift their teeth growing into fangs and their claws bursting through skin. The hole place froze, the atmosphere was like a knife about to tilt over and cause maximum damage! I grabbed Dawn’s hand in instinct. Then our powers went into one, Eloise and Jo had done the same already. Layla had been running to catch up and was slowly adding her hand to Jo’s outstretched one. But we still had a problem we were to far apart and whatever had come through the door was now moving up towards us. Dawn squeezed my hand, I looked at her and she mouthed, SHADOW to us all. I glanced over and saw the others had understood what to do. We were each going to do a simple spell, which makes us appear human to other supernats. I started my incantation the same time as the others, visualisation and silent words were key here. It was one of the first defence spells we were taught. “No one must see the power that is inside me, hide My pride deep inside for only me to see. Shadow my soul” We were all making the little circular hand movements and then it was done. Looks like we got our wish to be normal, all to soon! I didn’t like it one bit. The new comers just got to the top step, as we all finished. They could of sensed magic whilst making their way painfully slowly up the steps. But entrance was key, we were well versed at that. I could see the tops of their heads, both dark hair and one which was maybe Latino, the other pale skin shone drawing the eye like it was beautiful. Ah s**t, we had a vampire here and I have never met one. But also a mage too or some sort of Fea under a glamour. There were a few Fea in Glastonbury that could project this much power. But why though to scare some kids??. That's just weird. Knowing we were safely concealed I went round the person in front on me. To get a better look and see what they wanted. The Mage suddenly closes his eyes he’s chanting, why I have no clue but he’s searching for someone! That much is clear from the spell he uses. The Vamps eyes are all that moves on his head. He looks at each person individually. When it’s comes to mine and dawns turn. His creepy red eye pupils pauses just for a second dismissing us as threats, thinking we are human. We seemed to have got the shadow spell up and working at exactly the right time. Thank the Godesss we didn't wait! The vamp did the same with the other side of the hall, he was definitely an ancient one. He moved forward to see through the hall way, but he was stood right in front of Jo. She was physically shaking, not that anyone noticed least of all the vamp. Who was stood right there infront of her checking everyone is the next room. He seemed pleased with his findings, which was odd. He turned and walked back to the mage. They looked at each other and turned to leave. “Wait” The mage said and turned straight to look at me.
