Chapter 19

1166 Words
The upstairs room turned from a s*x show to what I could only call an ordinary club. Though it was much quieter than downstairs. The music was soft, just loud enough to be heard, but not too loud that it was hard for us to talk. I shouldn’t have stuck around. I should have ran out of here as fast as I could. But there was something holding me back. I couldn’t tell if it was fear or if it was curiosity. Though, I did want to know what they had to say. What could they offer me that would make me stay? Amelia ordered a drink. While we waited for it to arrive, Nate leaned forward. I didn’t miss the slight glare Amelia shot my way. Whether it was about me turning them down or if she was jealous of how close Nate was getting to me, I couldn’t know. “What did you think?” Nate asked. I fiddled with my hands. After a moment of silence, I couldn’t take it anymore. Everything rushed out like a tidal wave. “Why did you bring me here?” I couldn’t hide the anger and the irritation in my voice. Nate didn’t look surprised. “We wanted to see your reaction. Was it that bad?” “Was it that bad?” I shook my head in disbelief. “Of course it was! I just watched two people have s*x on a stage for others’ enjoyment!” My voice rose. I didn’t mean for it to. I was shaking with how pissed off I was. “Your drink, ma’am.” The server placed Amelia’s drink in front of her. I avoided eye contact. When the server left, I met Nate’s eyes across the table and hissed. “Just tell me what you want.” I needed to get out of here. I turned them down. There wasn’t much else for me to be doing here anyway. Nate got this strange pleased-like look on his face. The smile showed off his dimples. Almost made him look like a young boy. My age actually. “We’re willing to propose a deal.” Amelia took a sip of her drink. Her eyes gave away nothing. She crossed her legs, sliding her hand down the length of her thigh and onto her knee. She sat the glass down with a soft clink on the table. Perspiration dripped down the side. “Excuse me?” I must have heard him wrong. “Are you offering me money?” It never even crossed my mind. But I guess after what I saw tonight, it shouldn’t have been such a surprise. “Think of it as compensation.” Amelia tipped her glass towards me. “Or a gift. It’s to no expense to us.” Nate placed a firm hand on Amelia’s thigh. It was possessive and dominating. Like he was reminding her of his power. “If that’s something you don’t like, we can take it out of the contract. It’s only that this sort of thing takes time and, unfortunately, money. For you.” I shook my head. “Wait a second.” I adjusted in my seat, sitting on the edge. “What contract? And why would it cost me time and money?” Nate squeezed Amelia’s thigh. She took another drink. “You would live with us. I would request for you to quit all jobs and all other activities. I’m lenient so you could request for a few days to yourself. School is an exception, of course.” Nate pursed his lips. “This all might sound strange, but I can see how you reacted to this place. How you reacted the night we met. You have the makings of a sub. We’ll start small, with the basics, but to really learn, you need to immerse. We—“ He looked to Amelia for guidance. She grabbed his hand. He continued. “We’ve been searching for someone like you for a long time.” He smiled. “Amelia might not look happy now, but she is. She’s been asking for this for years.” Amelia frowned and turned her head. Nate laughed. “I promise that it’s true.” A promise wasn’t exactly what I wanted or needed at the moment. It would have been just fine if he let me believe she hated me. It wouldn’t have been hard when she’s been glaring at me for the last ten minutes. “Think about it.” He was staring straight at me. I don’t know why, but the look made me feel like I was doing something wrong. The feeling made my stomach churn and my chest ache. That’s when I took a good hard look at them. They must have been the ultimate couple. Both attractive in their own right, fit, and successful. They didn’t argue or despise each other as I would thought they would If they were looking for a third partner to spice up their s*x life. They didn’t fit the picture I’d always imagined of a desperate couple. For some reason, out of everyone they could have in the city or even this club, they wanted me. As flattering as it was, I didn’t like the thought of becoming just another girl on his arm. But there was also a burning heat inside of me that wanted to finish what had been started. I wanted to know how it would feel when he pushed me down on their shared bed and took me as she watched. I was a sinful thought that came from a dark place that I didn’t even want to acknowledge was there. Amelia finished the last of her drink. She set it down with more force than what was necessary. She didn’t even look at me. “If you’re not interested, tell us. Playing innocent isn’t doing any favors for you.” I gaped at her. “I didn’t mean—“ Before I could get the words out, Xander walked up to our table. “Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Stockham.” Nate grinned. Amelia tried to look less frightening, but it was evident that she was worked up about something. That something being me and my inability to just form simple sentences. Xander glanced at me. “And I don’t think I got your name.” “Julie,” I said. He held out his hand and I shook it. Amelia narrowed her eyes at our joined hands.
