I thought secondly about the offer when I walked out to my car. My phone buzzed as I made it to the driver seat. Simon was already on his way to his next class and made it clear that he wanted to know all about what had happened between me and Nate. I typed a quick response back, telling him that he should mind his own business.
It might have sounded a little harsh when the kid was only curious, but I’ve had it with people sticking their nose into what I wished they would pretend never happened. Apparently, that was too much to ask for.
Once I typed out the message and sent it with a harsh press of my thumb, I looked up to find a yellow ticket stuck to the windshield of my car. Tucked beneath the windshield blades, was a parking ticket.
“Are you f*****g kidding me?” I snatched the ticket, almost ripping it in half and held it up to my face.
The tiny print stated that I had to report to the offices near the dorms if I wanted to lift the mentally from the student ID.
In a fit of frustration, I wadded up the paper and threw it into the floorboard of my car. There was no sense in littering on the sidewalk when they’d probably came back around and nail my ass.
Not in the fun way either.
I groaned at my stupid joke, running my hand over my face.
That was not what I meant.
A series of images flickered through my head. They all involved Nate bending me over and f*****g his large c**k into my ass.
Another groan fell from my lips as I tried to clear the images from my thoughts. A moment passed before I got a grip on myself and climbed into the car. I had to get out of this place before I combusted from dirty, filthy thoughts about my teacher.
I drummed my fingers on the steering wheel. My thoughts were all over the place. Nate and Amelia’s offer still stood. With that parking ticket on top, that money was looking better and better.
But I couldn’t say yes. It would be going against every rule I was trying to go by. This wasn’t me at all. This was the kind of thing Mel would do.
I leaned my head on my hand while keeping the wheel steady with my right. Mel and I were drifting apart further since I met Nate. I knew that I’d been ignoring her so that I wouldn’t have to face the feelings she had for me.
I sighed. Dark storm clouds formed ahead. Rain fell down, splattering against the window.
There was no reason to keep ignoring her now. She’d snuck into my room. There was hiding or pretending that she didn’t want more in our relationship.
My destination arrived on my right. I pulled out the address on my phone, double checking that I was at the right place. I had ten minutes until I was to arrive, but I was hoping I could use the extra time to get to know the place and the other waiters.
The place I was at in particular was a prestigious restaurant. The name was French Lumiere and I was pretty sure that just meant light or something.
Anyway, the ad was a fill in for the night, a one time job because they were hosting an event for a large party of business men. I was quick to pick up the extra cash. They were paying $200 for one night and more if I was good enough to keep hired the next few days.
This was my fun night after class. No more clubs for me. I would let Mel cover that end of things.
I parked in the back and head to the back door. Before I even got a hand on the handle, the door flew open, almost hitting me in the face.
“Oh s**t! Sorry!” A hand flew out to steady me before I fell back against the wall of the building.
I grabbed the front of the man’s shirt on reflex. With eyes wide and jaw slack, I looked up and met the guy’s gaze.
And almost s**t my pants.
“You’re…” I couldn’t get the rest of the words out. The guy I was looking at was the same guy that had been at the club. The guy that had been f*****g the girl on stage for everyone’s enjoyment.
It must have been the look on my face that made him realize where I’d seen him. His face grew hard and he let go of me. My fist was still holding his shirt. He pulled it away.
“Um…sorry,” I said and tried to gather myself. He didn’t look too happy to see me.
He crossed his arms.
“What are you doing here? This is an employee only entrance.” A snide look crossed his face. He gave me a glance over.
“I don’t suppose you’re here to eat.”
I was still shocked to see him here that I didn’t fully understand that he was insulting me.
“No.”
His eyes narrowed and then realization dawned on him. He got this annoyed look on his face that said that he wasn’t too happy to know that I was going to be working here. That’s what I assumed he realized then. And I wondered if he recognized me from the club too.
He held up one finger, closing his eyes. A sigh fell from his lips.
“Let’s…forget about this. Come inside.” He opened his eyes once more. I was floored by how blue they were. He’d changed in a second from a guy I thought hated me to someone I felt I could trust with my life. But I still felt uneasy around him. It was like he could explode at any second and take me along with everyone else.
It wasn’t the same as Nate though. Nothing compared to the feelings of warmth and safety I got from him.
“What’s your name?”
“Julie,” I replied, falling down hard from my thoughts.
“I’m Jesse.” He held out his hand and I took it. His grip startled me at how tight it was.
He let go as if nothing was wrong.
Jesse opened the door and gestured for me to go ahead of him.
“Hurry up. We don’t have all day,” he said before I could even take a step. He rushed me through the door, that grim look on his face once more.
It looked like I had a new enemy.
Great.
