The New Chapter

Lacey logged off in shock thinking what just happened. After an hour of reliving memories with an old friend she drifted off to sleep. She woke up the next day around 2pm as she was on the laptop late, to have three missed call and a dozen texts from Ben and Gemma. She just remembered she was meant to go to town with them and she totally forgot about it. She text Gemma telling her she didn’t feel well and decided to keep the whole thing with Mitchie a secret. She spent the rest of the day smiling thinking about last night. Checking her mail every ten minutes.

 Until Ben text her and reality set in. Lacey forgot about her mail completely and trough herself into being in a relationship with Ben for the last month of being at home. As she would be soon leaving for Dublin. Ben had become really clingy and totally obsessed with Lacey in that last month of their relationship. Lacey is struggling on how to break up with him. She text Gemma for advice but had to tell her about her secret. About her going to Dublin to pursue her modelling career, but she had to swear her friend to secrecy. Gemma's advice was the very same advice Lacey had given Mitchie do it face to face. Lacey had totally forgotten about Mitchie and that night.

Lacey decided that she couldn’t face seeing Ben so she rang him to break up. As she knew all to well the way he would react, it was like every other time if she couldn’t make a date. He would become angry and think she was cheating on him. So as she held the phone to her ear she was scared of what he might say.

“hey lace” he answered, Lacey decided to do it straight away as she didn’t want to drag it out so she took and deep breathe and said,

“Sorry Ben but I’m moving to Dublin to pursue my career tomorrow. I’m sorry I don’t do long distance. I’m sorry Ben we’re over!” before he had time to answer Lacey hung up as she knew how angry he would get.

 For the rest of that night he constantly rang and text her. But she never replied. She wrote the letter to her parents telling them she was going to Dublin and why. She cried the whole time while writhing the five page letter. Telling them she’s very sorry, how much she loves’ them and why she needs to go and do this. 

The next morning Lacey was ready to leave. She left the letter for her parents on the kitchen table, as she left her house to get in the cab waiting outside who was out there but Ben!. He tried to convince her to stay and not to go to Dublin that he loved her. But she just ignored him and got into the cab to train station.

On the train to Dublin Ben continued to text and call her to come home and stop being so stupid, that they are not broken up. Lacey decided to take out her laptop and check her mail. She realised she hadn’t had time to check it in a month as she had to spend every minute with Ben he insisted. She noticed she had several mails from Mitchie, she decided not to look at them till she got to her apartment so she could reply in comfort. And tell Mitchie exactly what had been going on. Lacey put the laptop away and fell asleep the rest of the way to Dublin.

When she arrived at her apartment that she had saved up for since she was 14 after going to the show. She just relaxed and rang her parents. After being on the phone for an hour crying and saying she was sorry about this but its her dream and she wasn’t ready to leave it and go home. Her mind was set. 

So armed with her portfolio she left her apartment and headed to all the top modelling agencies to try find her first modelling job. After being turned down three times in the space of 4hours she was starting to think this was a waste of time and was thinking of going home when the lease at the end of the month was finished and she didn’t have money to pay the next months rent.

 On her way to the final meeting of the day with top fashion magazine Total Fashion. She taught this is it the last one the last chance, she was starting to think she couldn’t do it and she was a failure and she was going home next month! She was outside the building wondering to go in or not to this meeting, she was seriously thinking about leaving and not going in.

Lacey decided to go into her meeting and came out smiling. Finally its happened she has he first modelling gig. She had to come back the following morning at 9am, she really could wait. She went back to her apartment on top of the world. When she got home she decided to mail her friends and tell them how she got on today and when she logged into her mail she had seven emails from ben, she taught this was going over the top. She flicked through them really quickly but one caught her eye it read,

 Lacey its not over, its only over when I say it is. Now don’t be stupid and email back saying it is over. Now I’ll be up tomorrow to get you and bring you back down to earth. Modelling is stupid career!!! All my love Ben xxxxxxxxxx

Lacey was really freaked out at this and she rang Gemma straight away.

“Gem, what is up with Ben he’s really scaring me.” She asked

“I don’t know Lace he’s really changed it scaring all of us” Gemma replied.

“Please Gem don’t tell him where I’m living in Dublin or where my job is please.” Lacey commented

“s**t sorry Lace he rang just before you did, I’m so sorry” Gemma whispered

“f**k!!! Ok bye gem”

Lacey was really freaked out now. And she was hoping he wouldn’t turn up on her first day of modelling. Lacey got into bed but could not sleep. Around 1am her phone started ringing, it was of course Ben, and Lacey just turned her phone off so she could try sleep as she knew she had to look her best for tomorrow. 

Lacey’s alarm woke her around 7am. She got up had a shower eat and left for her first day of modelling, she was really excited until half way to work she turned on her phone and she had a couple of messages from Ben, telling her he was on his way to Dublin, that he knew where she lived and worked. Lacey was really freaking out. 

 When Lacey arrived at Total Fashion headquarters, she realised she was really nervous. And she taught there was no way Ben would turn up. She didn’t think he would go that far. When she got to reception she gave the girl her name and she said

“Oh you’re our new fashion model, go straight up to floor 23 everything and everyone is ready for you. Go straight to make up. All the signs are there just follow them in a day or two you won’t need to follow them”

“Thank you” Lacey replied and she left for the lift. As she got to floor 23 there was a lot of signs telling her where to go. So she followed them. As she entered the make up room her phone continued to go off. She taught nothing is going to ruin my day or career so she turned off her phone.

 She was welcomed by the make up staff and hair staff and they started straight away, she was offered a drink she chose water with a straw as it wouldn’t mess up her make up or stain her teeth. She was dressed and ready for her first photo shoot. She loved this shoot as she got to wear different types of deb’s dresses for this week’s magazine. The first dress she wore was her favourite it was a light pink colour and had a halter neck straps and also straps from her ribs that tie at the base of her back, so her back was exposed. 

She walked into the studio slowly trying to balance on 6inch silver heels. As she was about to stand in front of the photographer she could not believe her eyes Mitchie was behind the camera. She turned and called Mitchie,

“Mitchie what are you doing here?”

“OMG Lacey hi I’m the photographer, I’m working here for work experience.” Mitchie replied.

“Let’s grab a coffee after the shoot if you have nothing planned of course?” Lacey quickly said.

Mitchie was in shock she could not believe how beautiful her friend was, she can’t believe she was thinking of her best friend in this way. Mitchie couldn’t help but stare at Lacey, even though it was her job to stare because she was the photographer. She was really looking at her in a different light as she would have before. 

She can’t believe she taught her was really sexy and beautiful. She also knew how great her friend is and her great personality. And her friend wasn’t full of herself like the rest of the models out there. And she didn’t think she was beautiful even though she really was. Mitchie couldn’t help but take a few extra photo’s the magazine didn’t ask for. Mitchie was sitting around waiting for Lacey to get ready so they could go for a coffee. 

Then it hit Mitchie she shouldn’t be thinking of her friend like that at all as she was still with Skylar, she couldn’t bring herself to finish it with her girlfriend. But she was working on an email to send to her but she still hasn’t done it yet. She also remembered Lacey had mentioned she had a boyfriend. 

Then Mitchie heard all the commotion outside so she rushed out to see what was going on. Some guy had Lacey by the arm trying to drag her out of the studio.

Of course the guy was Ben, he turned up just like he said he would. Lacey was so scared she was almost crying. She looked at Mitchie to see if her friend could help her. Lacey continued to say to Ben,

“Please Ben leave me alone, it’s over Ben I’ve told you this” Lacey cried.

Mitchie decided to jump in! She said to Ben “dude back up, the girl said it’s over so its over now please leave the building or I’m calling security.”

“Fine I’ll leave but Lacey I’ll see you later at your apartment” Ben said leaving rather swiftly as he taught Mitchie was calling security. Mitchie went over and hugged her friend and said everything is going to be ok don’t worry. Come on lets go for a coffee. As they went for coffee they relived their childhood memories. And filled each other in on their lives while they were apart. And how they missed each other so much.

Then Lacey decided to ask her friend about her being gay, but she didn’t know how approach the subject. Lacey stared at her friend for a quiet some time wondering how to ask Mitchie how she knew she was gay. She really wanted to ask her but she didn’t know how so she simply said, 

“So you’re gay. How’s that working out for you?” Mitchie was stunned as she never heard it put that way.

 “Well Lacey it’s good, I’m the person I’ve always been, and the only difference is I like girls instead of guys.” After a short silence Mitchie continued talking, 

“Lacey it all started off when I realised I was noticing girls instead of guys. Girls to me are so attractive. It’s not like I hate guys I just don’t fancy them or anything. I was in a relationship with a great girl for about 6 months until I moved here. Well actually I haven’t broken up with her yet, I’m writing her an email braking up with her, but I feel like I’m doing a bad job of it. I feel like I shouldn’t make her wait. I don’t know how to say it to her. Lacey could you help me?” Mitchie asked pleadingly

“Mitchie I don’t know if I should, it should come from you and your heart. I can help but not do it for you.” Lacey agreed to help her friend.

Lacey invited her old friend back to her apartment. Just as she feared Ben was waiting outside the building. Lacey looked at Mitchie and she knew exactly what her friend wanted her to do. So Mitchie threw her arm around Lacey and said loud enough for Ben to hear. “So baby, great day today. I’m so glad you finally agreed to go out with me!” Ben simply look strangely at them and said “I’m telling you parents Lacey”. 

But Lacey simply didn’t care something about that moment made sense but she didn’t know what it was. So Lacey simply didn’t mind if Ben told her parents she would tell them it was Mitchie and they would understand. Once they got inside Mitchie produced a bottle of wine as she was 18 last month. So Lacey agreed to a glass. As they sat down on Lacey’s couch the huddled close to look at the email that Mitchie was going to sent to her girlfriend Skylar. Mitchie had a very simply email it said,

Hey sky, I’m really sorry baby but I can’t continue this relationship as I am in Ireland and you’re in America I’m sorry

Love always your Mitchie boo.

Lacey look at this email looked at Mitchie and laughed. “Do you really think this is the kind of email you’d like if she was breaking up with you?” she said seriously

“No Lace I guess not, but I’m not used to this kind of thing this is why I need your help.”

Lacey took the laptop off Mitchie and started to type. An hour later Lacey was finished and the email now read,

Hey Sky,

I’m really sorry that I am doing this by email and not in person. But I really couldn’t do it in person as I didn’t want to lose you and I taught the long distance relationship would work, but I know now that I am holding you back as we will never see each other. And I will not be returning home until my 4 year course has finished. And even at then I might not return. And I don’t want to keep you off the market as you are a really nice, smart and beautiful girl. I’m very proud to have called you my girlfriend for 6months they where the best 6 months ever for me. And I really appreciate the way you have stuck by me. I hope you have a great life and find someone special. I hope we can still be friends all my love forever
