Chapter 13 Max watched Becca as she took sips of her coffee. She looked more relaxed than she’d seemed when he’d first met her in the ER. They were seated on the porch at the back of the house. Faint scents of pine and hay drifted in with the cool night breeze. Max passed Becca a blanket, and she wrapped it around her shoulders. He’d spent some time thinking and praying about this conversation as he’d taken care of Bella earlier in the day, cleaned out her stall, and moved bales of hay.
