Becca put Chloe to bed, but she couldn’t sleep. She tossed and turned till she gave up and sat up instead.
How could she have been mistaken? She’d thought Max had blown her off and disappeared. Instead he’d been in an accident.
Wait a second! There had been the accident she’d seen on her way back to the hotel. Could it be …?
She shook her head. No, it wasn’t possible. That accident had been so bad that witnesses had speculated the victim was probably dead. It couldn’t have been Max, could it?
