My heart nearly stopped.

Had she slipped the poison in the tea before I noticed?
I pulled in a shaky breath, reaching for my wolf, begging her to clear my head, to give me the truth. But she stayed silent, locked away somewhere I couldn’t touch.
“What did you put in the tea?!”
Arianna’s sudden shriek cut through the chamber, sharp as claws raking down my back. I stumbled, the tray tilting in my hands, and would’ve fallen if Marie hadn’t grabbed my arm.
“N-Nothing. I swear, Your Highness, nothing!” The words tumbled out of me as I dropped to my knees, bowing so low my forehead nearly touched the floor.
My chest shook with silent prayers that nothing should happen to the queen... so she wouldn't die and drag me with her.
