Tonight, Pearl sat in her rented room, her thoughts filled with those of her family. She had decided to stay at the hotel instead of going home because she felt drained and worried that seeing Taggart could worsen her situation. Damian assisted her in renting the room and stayed next door to keep an eye on her. Despite their lack of closeness, Damian seemed like a kind man.
"What if Taggart comes to my house and does something bad?" Pearl asked herself. She was highly concerned that Taggart might act mad.
"I have to do something. Oh, God. Why have I become such a coward?" Pearl frantically grabbed her hair and crumpled it. Damian suddenly knocked on her bedroom door. Pearl got up from her bed and opened it. Damian smiled at Pearl and then stepped closer.
"Do you want to eat something?"
