Boringly, Pearl laid down on the empty, lavish, comfortable king-size bed. She stared blankly on one side while gently twisting the edge of her pillow cover. She was not keen on running away again after her fight with Taggart. Until, in the middle of the night, the bedroom door squeaked and slowly opened. Pearl startled and then turned to widen her eyes.
