Keiran Dragon Hater (Age 12)

1940 Words
Keiran POV ( Age 12) Father drags me along with him to pay homage to the Vampire King, instilling me always to make sure that the King is honored and respected, always being ingrained in me. "It is important to show that you respect the high king Keiran. He is our leader and patriarch. A father to us in more than just you and I, he is the blood of the coven and it flows through all of us." In father's speeches to my brothers and I, on repeated occasions. "Yes Father", I bowed my head and crossed my fist over my heart to show that I would follow his teaching always. "Good, now I want to talk with you about the future and it is important to our family coven as well as the Vampire nation that you and the vampire princess become betrothed and be married." Father starts to tell me this as I look at him semi horrified that we are talking about this when I don't even look at girls. "Father, I am not looking for a wife at 12" I started to say to him as he interrupted me with his stare, how I hated the stare of a vampire alpha. "Yes, I know that you are not interested in marriage right now, son, but the future of this family coven must be planned out now to continue to hold the rank it has done for hundreds of years. We lost rank when the High Vampire king came to power due to a nasty disagreement about humans and our harvesting sustainability from them without killing them has long been debated and always a hot topic, to say the least. The Vampire king is correct on the longevity of our species, but we grow short in numbers and power as we are not creating more vampires or siring our own children without the use of human females and even hybrid human females. We can't fight a war with our mortal enemies, the dragons, since they can actually reproduce with any female, as they produce more dragons while we hold to our old-fashioned ways and cannot mate with our vampire females unless they are human first to produce even one miracle child that grows into adults to join the ranks." Father continued on and my mind wandered off to my current pursuit of finding the rare obsidian blade that can pierce even a dragon hide, and I was close to finding its hiding place. Revenge was on my mind even though father said it was not the time to try to seek vengeance for the loss of my sister at the hands of the red dragon. My beloved older sister was a beauty of the time. She was just 17 years old when she was captured and killed by the Red Dragon King. How I despise dragons and what they stole from me. He thought she would be a mate for him and he spied her while flying over the land while she was out enjoying the nature walk with her handmaiden, a human girl of equal age and looks. The day was slightly cloudy outside. She was walking along the bank of the stream that was near the old wheat mill by the farm we had growing up as humans. Her laughter and Chi's echoed through the woods. I was in the mill playing with the stones that ground the wheat into flour that we sold to the humans in the village. Sorene was a beautiful girl, and had many suitors that wanted to be a husband to her, but she told them all she wanted to live a bit first before being saddled with a family and a husband. Sorene had glowing red hair that shone copper, gold, and silver, she had dazzling green eyes with golden lights that glowed when she was excited about something, her mouth had a smile that would melt many hard hearts when she smiled at them. I was always given a smile by her and she lifted my heart each time she did. She was a tomboy and we hung out together when I was little and we played in the stream, hiked the woods and climbed trees and searched for objects that were magical in caves, looked for gems in the gold stream. We had a blast together. I miss our times together. Soren and Chi were very close friends and they soon went off without me as she got into her teen years. I then played with Deacon, the human boy who was a mage adept, and we looked for relics that fascinated us or tried to make some ourselves with the little magic skills we possessed. Deacon was trying a magic mill grinder with me in the mill. My sister waved at me as they walked off for the hike through the woods they took every day. I did not know that would be the last time that I saw her. Reggie the red dragon king, who is 20 years old, was flying over the land border to make sure the humans and the vampires were keeping on their side and not trespassing on Dragon hold. He heard the most seductive laugh in the woods as he slowly landed and changed to his human form. He walked closer to the sound that enthralled him to obey and find its source. The girl was like a flame to him, her glorious red hair surrounding her as the breeze lifted it. Her smile made him weak in his knees as he just stared at her while she laughed and talked with another girl who was pretty as her with a darker ebony healed of chari and blue eyes. His loins stirred, looking at them both. He knew that he would take both other girls for wife to gain strong children from them. He checked his appearance and he was himself a glorious specimen of the males of his kind, strong muscles and chiseled. He had a handsome rugged face with blue eyes and very dark black hair that had blazing red highlights in it. Many girls wanted to be with him but he was never very interested in them as they were just too eager to lay with him. He wanted a wife, not a mistress. The flame-haired girl was the most captivating one he ever saw in his life. He was also attracted to the other girl but he was more drawn to this flame-haired beauty. He started to whistle and walk on the path to not startle the girls walking towards him. They heard him, he heard the girls stop walking as they got closer to him. "Greetings ladies" his rich voice was very smooth on the ears and was helping to calm the girls as he bowed gallantly low and waiting to hear a response to his hello. The Flame goddess, as he thought of her, spoke with sweet voice "Greetings to you stranger" Reggie raised his eyes. Her beauty still rocked him to his core. " May I have the pleasure of your acquaintance?" The Flame goddess "Who are you? I have not seen you before in the territory?" Her eyes slowly looking over him taking in his strong muscular arms and chest, her eyes swirling and twinkling like emeralds as she looked over him. "I am Lord Reginald, of Velinore", extending his hand out for the flame goddess to accept his greeting. She hesitated to extend her hand. Her eyes swirled as she tried to remember his name, but she did not recognize it as being a mortal enemy to her family. " I am Lady Sorene Algonquin, and this is Lady Chi, my companion and dear friend. A pleasure to meet you sir". Reggie greeted Lady Chi warmly, extending his hand and she accepted his greeting. " Greetings Lord Reginald" "Are you traveling, sir, somewhere?" Sorene asked. "Yes, I have come to inspect my family holdings north of here a bit. The day was too lovely to not be out and seeing the nature that surrounds me." Reggie took out his packed goodies the cook made for him to have while he flew over the land. Flying took lots of energy to do. "May I offer you a treat from my cook, it is a lovely chocolate filled candy cake. She is very talented" Reggie offers each girl a piece of cake, takes one for himself and in one bite eats his as he savors the taste slowly. " Mhmmmm." he closes his eyes as he savors his mouthful of chocolate. Each girl tries the cake and they are both smiling and loving the new treat Reggie shared " How wonderful this is" Chi and Sorene both say at the same time. Reggie and the girls sit and enjoy some other treats the cook made and go tot he stream bed to rinse their hands off. "My lands are close by would you like to get a basket to bring to your family?" "I do not think that would would proper Sir Reginald" Chi states "We should be returning home as well" Reggie " I would like to see you again" begins to panic he must not let her reject him. " You would be welcome to meet with my family soon we can invite you to come to the gala next week in the village" Sorene says. Reggie thinks he now knows her family is one he would never meet, as the village near by is a vampire one on the border. He now realizes who she is and he decides that he would have her even if her family is enemies he will not give her up. He cannot meet her family and she cannot go back and tell her family she met him ever the war would only blow up on the border. He sniffs the air she is still a human, so not fully vampire yet, they must be waiting to turn her once she is giving birth to a child and the other one is the same both are still young and not turned to vampire, they would serve in his household as bride of dragons and not vampires. He pulls out his potion of protection and drinks it. He takes out the sleep potion and hands it out to the girls "some refreshment" after the cakes he says to them. He catches them both as they fall asleep. He turns to dragon form and picks up each girl gently and cradles them in his claws and beats his wings to raise off the ground. "Sorene" a young boys voice calls out. Reggie gains height and his tail wipes out some trees nearby, and they crash to the ground. "s**t" Running footsteps and the boy makes it to the clearing where the trees fell. Sorene's Scarf layed on the ground the boy runs over to it looking frantically for his sister. Reggie flys away with his cargo of the Flame goddess and the dark haired Chi. "STTTOOOPPPPP!!!!!" Keiran yells as he seess the red dragon fly off with not only his sister and her friend. Holdign his sister scarf in his hands he runs and throws one of his obsidion blades and grazes Reggies tail. Reggie feeling the bite of the blade he turns and fire breathes down on the boy. Keiran runs from the flame breath as Reggie Flies away with Sorene and Chi. Keiran never sees his sister and her friend again. He hates red dragons the most since he knows they killed his sister.
