Entering the stairwell that led to the fire escape, Emily felt uneasy. It wasn't safe here, especially since they had been intimate in this stairwell before, and it was in Emily's own building.
Richard wanted to embrace Emily, but she pushed him away, asking, "Why did you follow me here? Why?"
