"I know who sent them."
Darren’s words rang in my ears like a gunshot, echoing long after they had left his lips.
The hallway around us felt suffocating, the dim lighting casting elongated shadows against the walls. But none of that mattered. Not the cold air pressing against my skin. Not the fact that I could still feel Nicholas’s presence lingering somewhere nearby.
All that mattered was what Darren had just said.
