Nicholas's POV
Inside the spacious boardroom, the air around it was suffocating even though the Air conditioner was on. That was the effect I wanted. They should feel my rage
The people sitting around the table were tense and everyone was managing their breathing because I couldn't make out their breaths even though I was sitting in front of them at the moment. Were they all too scared to breathe?
‘Seeing how they all looked solemn, this should be fun’ I mulled in my head as a lazy smirk hitched my lips.
The room was not a funeral parlor and no one is dead yet because I am not promising that someone is not going to lose it, if care isn't taken.
“Mr. Hidalgo, did you mind addressing us?” one of the oldest shareholders in the company speaks up and I smiled knowing he was going to be the first person to say something.
I was currently in the Hildago corporation boardroom and I was there to address the board about a new product launch but an unfortunate incident happened overnight that I had to address first and that's the highlight of the meeting.
“Who gave the order without consulting me?” I asked after a long silence, oh I heard murmurs fill the room immediately my eyes darkened when I started hearing the whispers in my head and I slammed my fist on the table and the room went silent immediately.
“I asked a question I never asked you to participate in a debate!” I fired and they all jolted in fear at my actions. I could feel my wolf trying to take charge but I breathed out trying to control my rage.
“I was about going to ask again who gave the order for them to begin the construction on that land?” I asked and the temperature in the room became calm, some directors in the boardroom lips quivers at my question.
“It is your cousin, he gave us the permission to start the construction saying that the media was going to be taken care of,” he says and my eyes twitched hearing that.
Sean is my cousin and I just suspended him recently for abusing his power at work but he has the guts to give order to start a construction on the land that a corpse was recently found on it.
Was he planning to bury the company with him?
“So you mean you blindly followed, Sean's order just because he asked you to do it?" I asked and they all went silent.
“But I don't think that should be a problem, it's just a corpse on a piece of land, the media just had to blow it out of proportion,” one of the board members says and my hands flinched hearing that.
“You think? Then how about we also found your corpse on a piece of land? Did you wish to do it? I mean it's going to be fun to have someone like you volunteer to see if the media isn't going to act up…the more the merrier,” I beamed him a condescending smile and I watched him shivered in fear seeing that his joke doesn't sit well with me.
How could none of them have an idea that I don't want to be questioned about?
“But your cousin asked us to…” I heard one of the shareholders saying and I banged my fist on the table not liking the tone that the men were using on me. I hate to be questioned but it looks like they enjoyed getting on my skin and I don't want to give in to them.
But what can I do? I have to make my stance known.
“I run this company, not my cousin nor even my aunt has the right to meddle in my affairs, they are just meant to manage the affairs in their jurisdiction, I called the shots, I hope that is clear!” I roared and they all nodded telling me that they were now informed.
I knew what I told them about was going to be the same thing they were going to be corrected on but I knew that it was still going to be fair.
I walked out of the board room having enough of the useless talk and I walked down the hallway to my office but I felt a presence sizzling in the hallway but I didn't bother with it.
I was about to step into my office but my steps halted when my assistant listed out my schedule for me.
“What did you mean? Are you saying that I have another meeting and I am just getting to know now?” I asked and he bowed his head.
“What! Why are you just telling me this?” I asked and I hissed in frustration at his mistake and he bowed his head in regret telling me not to be vexed that he wasn't going to make mistakes like that again but I was ready to listen as I made my way to the elevator.
I walked towards the company's entrance and I sneered seeing how girls were ogling at my face but I was not bothered by it all. I was used to them staring at my face long and hard but a commotion halted my steps and I couldn't help but be bothered by what was happening in front of my office.
What could possibly be going on?
“What did you mean you didn't see me there?” I heard an irritating tiny voice scream and her voice echoed in the company's lobby and I got irritated at the sound.
‘What nonsense, how can someone be so immature!’ a voice whispered in my head and my gaze darkened after the words registered in my mind and I looked at the scene like I was ready to fist on someone.
“Get them out, you know I hate noise the most,” I ordered while walking away from the scene but I felt my wolf agitated as a smell wafted into my nose and I couldn't deny that pleasant scent.
It was so familiar!
‘Mate!’ My wolf, Ben, purred, and without thinking my legs were already making my way towards the scene where people gathered until I saw her face shining radiantly while keeping a nonchalant smirk and my steps halted.
What beauty!
I didn't need to get closer to the scene because my hearing was far better than the other wolves and I could listen clearly to things from a far distance so I could hear what they were discussing even though I wasn't close to the place.
“Are you claiming that I bumped into you intentionally?” I heard her ask the other lady, who was trying to act victim and my nose scrunched up in disgust seeing what kind of person she was.
She was one manipulative person that could make people do her bidding while still keeping her angelic nature. She was really something else.
“Yes, didn't you do that? Even your friend here is also bullying me when you guys should be begging that I shouldn't expose you for your bullying actions,” she says wiping her crocodile tears but I couldn't be bothered by her because I was stuck looking at the other lady.
She was the definition of class even though she was under pressure she could still stand tall and looked into the eyes of the manipulative girl and kept questioning her.
“If you insisted that I do it then I don't see a reason not owing to it, I indeed did it,” she said and gasped to escape people's mouths and I wondered what she was trying to bring out by her words.
“President, we have a meeting to attend..” I heard my assistant saying but I dismissed his words by leisurely raising my hand. I didn't intend for him to interrupt when I was this interested in a case.
“Did you think I care about what people think about me? no, I don't but I know that you care about what people think about you and that's why I am going to clarify this,” she says and I could hear people murmuring maybe in displeasure at how she was acting but her stance was appealing to me.
I love women who know how to clap back.
“Mister, can I please see the CCTV footage of the lobby,” she asked the security man but I noticed his reluctant look and I knew that he wasn't going to give her so I decided to step up for her.
“Give it to her!” I ordered, my voice echoed through the company's lobby and people turned around to look at me, I heard them gasping in realization when they saw me staring down at them.
“What…president! It's the president!” one of the crowd yelled, and I shook my head not liking the noise that sets in a bit but when I looked at her face my body calmed.
She was different.
