The night was still and dark on the rural road in Indiana. Ralph drove a little too fast, as he was in an immense hurry. Suddenly, he noticed the flashing red light behind him. He knew he had been caught speeding and his mind immediately raced with fear. He panicked and hit the gas, hoping to make a quick getaway. The police in pursuit shouted over the radio to the dispatcher that he was shooting at them. Ralph's heart raced - he had no idea what he should do. He had a gun with him and he fired a few shots in their direction as he raced away.
Ralph was on the run, and his only hope was to get past the Ohio-Indiana border undetected. He had been spotted by Ohio law enforcement and they were in hot pursuit, but he was determined to get away. Ralph drove as fast as he could, his car pushing the limits of speed and control. The highway patrol were following close behind, but Ralph had a lead – an advantage that would help him make it to the border before the law could catch him. As he came around the final corner, the Ohio border suddenly loomed in front of him. He was almost there! He took a moment to allow himself a feeling of victory, but he knew better than to assume success just yet. He still had to make it through the border safely. He accelerated hard and managed to get across the border, passing a patrol car with barely a sigh of relief. His heart was racing, but he had made it. Ralph drove on, triumphant in his escape. Although the odds were against him, Ralph used his driving skill and knowledge of the road to get himself out of a tough situation. While the law enforcement’s job is to catch the bad guys, they still need to be aware of how talented some drivers can be, and Ralph’s successful escape is testament to that.
