DAY 17 & Poem:

272 Words
Ralph ran from the Indiana state police in late December 1935, he was not caught, but instead his car was hit by a train killing him instantly, his body was badly damaged and mangled. Ralph had been suspected of killing a local farmer named George. The man had disappeared without a trace. There had been no blood or signs of a struggle at the scene. The sheriff had suspected that Ralph and his gang had something to do with it. They were known bootleggers and smugglers. The sheriff had sent out several search parties in hopes of catching Ralph before the Indiana state police. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “You thought you could run, feel the wind in your hair But soon you will find, there's only one place to go Your crimes will come back, the police will know They will come with open cuffs, you won't go free anymore Your conscience will be there, silently showing the way Your wrongdoing can't be hidden, there's no place to stay Your day has come and you must answer for your deeds You can't escape the police, their sirens are all heard, their lights pierce the night You thought that you could hide from your shadow But these chains are now here, around your wrists so tight Your mind will be filled with regret and dismay The road ends here, and your feet have to stop in place You can't run away from your sins now Your fate awaits and your crimes must fall upon you You can't hide the truth and continue running away Only justice will be served, in handcuffs you must stay.”
